Mo's 6ftx8ftx3ft SPS Reef Tank

Amazing build and an awesome equipment list! Congrats on a beautiful display. Love how the tank builder was able to build the tank without any euro braces on the top frame of the tank. Great for access!

A couple of questions for you: what is your maintenance schedule and how often do you prune corals before they start fighting with each other? Your landscape is filling up quickly!!!

Definitely good for access, although I do need to move the lights out to do any heavy maintenance.

Maintenance isn't too much these days.
Check alk twice a week. Feed twice per day and add supplements at night.
Water change every 2-3 weeks.

I dont prune the corals yet. I let them fight it out. If anything nice is really struggling, I might move it or change it's direction away from other corals.

There are a few corals that will need to be heavily fragged or moved out at some stage, but they will affect the scape, so not doing it yet.

Because of the size of corals, I can't really access many parts of the tank now.
Sometimes tempting to move the big corals out and do a small rescape"¦. maybe take the side wall ceramics out and keep multiple islands- not yet though.

Cheers
Mo

Mo, I know you've said you've struggled in the past of taking pics of your tank. I'm wondering, do you happen to have a tripod? If so, have you ever considered doing a stacking photo? Simply put, you take a whole lot of pictures, in your case, probably over 50, all manually focused to different areas of the tank. Then, in photoshop, you can stitch these all together and you can get a fully detailed tank shot of ALL your corals in one shot :).

It isn't an easy thing to do, but if I lived near you, I'd do it for you for free-99

did you get this tricolor scopas tang from Southwest Marines?

I'm slowly ramping up the new tubes and as it was dark outside, I managed to get a shot without any reflections.

Keen observers will see that I tried to move some coral on the right at the back.
I have a few duplicated corals that I want to move on and free up some space.
The trouble is, I knocked over a rock, that tumbled onto the big Green Aussie Abro stag in the middle.
That toppled over and it took me almost two hours to reposition it. I couldnt glue/ putty it back, so in the end, I cable tied it in place.

The joys of keeping a large reef tank!. I have browned the stag a little now, but hopefully it will pick up again.
At least I have some space to add a couple of new corals!!
