Moving to Miami -need advice

Here is the perspective of someone that grew up in Miami, moved away for several years and came back five years ago. If he is going to work in Kendall, look for a house in the Redlands, or in an area officially called Richmond West (33177 or 33187). Both will offer a house within your price range and pretty good schools and a yard for the dogs.

Life in Miami is tough for a few reasons. One, traffic. Two, scammers are everywhere - very difficult to trust anyone. Three, the pace is very quick so customer service is scarce.

I am Hispanic, my wife is Caucasian, we both have very different perspectives. The weather is great, but if it weren't for the hundred or so relatives we have in the county, we would likely live elsewhere.

This man right here speaks the truth!

You should consider using a realtor, as the post about scammers is unfortunately true. Many have paid for properties only to find out the property had been rented to someone else and their deposit is gone. Scary to go it on your own. PM me if you would like a referral.

Pembroke Pines is another area to look at.

I was just speaking with someone else here who rents to see if her landlord had other properties. I was worried about the same thing. Especially when the deposit is so high. Unfortunately I need to go with renting a house because we need the space and condo/townhome will not allow my Shepard. If you can refer me to a reputable landlord that would be a good start. As I have been reading everyone's advice, it seems that it may be better to go that route rather than finding a place then contacting the owner.

A long standing, and respected member of Florida Marine Aquarium Society, our Treasurer, is a realtor with Keyes (i think for 15 years)..

pm me. ill give you his number. I cant remember his name on here. its julioperez something or the other, lol

How long would you estimate the drive from Fort Lauderdale to Kendall during rush hour?

Easily 1 1/2 hour each way....you can take the train and leave a car in Hialeah so that you can drive to work which makes commute easier. I do the opposite...live in Kendall and work in Ftl

Weston is one area I have been considering. You know of any houses for rent with a fenced in yard.
