MSX skimmer club

Here is what the new ones look like. Pricing questions should be directed to the vendor. I have no idea. Performance should be good with the new models from what I can tell.

Do you know if they are redesigning the MSX1A's also? I also notice the 1A's are (or can be set up for ) recirc. Can the 250A's be also?

Here are some pictures of the current SWC300A

As far as I can tell, besides the pump of course, the biggest differences are:

-- a longer neck,
-- transparent transition from body to neck,
-- removal of the white solid plastic plate underneath the perforated plate inside the body and,
-- a longer inner cylinder that goes all the way from the bottom to the perforated plate.

I thought the production models were going to have the reaction chamber all the way to the base to alleviate the bubble issue where air gets trapped under the chamber and allows large bubbles to escape and surface messing up the foam head. If they don't have that, there is no reason for me to upgrade.

They have the modified chamber in the two that Scott posted...

Ahhh. nevermind that isn't the new designed 300a, but rather the old one since it has the two sicce ports.

Thanks for posting the pics!

The new 300A will have the chamber that goes all the way to the bottom. Those are pics of the current 300A. Although, I don't see a difference in the pump hookups from that skimmer and the regular 300

Thanks, I caught that at the last minute. Or actually after the last minute... I'm thinking about adding another 100 gallons to my system to have a top-looking down coral tank in the wetroom and am thinking of upgrading to a 300a:D

That would be cool. I'm starting to think I should have held off on buying my 300. For another 200 bucks and a little patience, I could have the new 300A.

The new 250/300A are available right now at reefflitration.
Just ordered one the other day real nice people.

Has it shipped out? How long did they say it would take for delivery? I wonder how they got the skimmer before marine solutions?

It not on their website... I'm sure I'll stick with marine solutions anyway. They really do go above and beyond. Hard to make a profit in this industry, especially when you deal with whiny reefers like me:D But Jeff has stuck with my questions since day one!

curious---how much is the new pump in comparison to the total cost of the new 250msx. Trying to figure out if it woud be a good idea to retool my existing 250msx or invest in the new one.

New pump is $300. MSX250A is $550.

would there be much difference in skimmer performance from a new one compared to the old one refitted with the new pump?
