My 1 week old BTA tank... 40g breeder.

My GBTA took a few years to split the first time and then has split a few times since.

I have 5 or 6 total in maybe 4 years. My RBTA split more often.

Cool thanks, the one I have isnt quite out yet I set him in the back of my tank. It was under t5 lighting and I have MH so it still needs to get use to my Lights. It looks like a LTA more then BTA

wow perfect started a thread yesterday about a 40br nem tank...(the search was/is down) this is just what i needed :)

That is so friggin' sweet....

LED's and nem tank

LED's and nem tank

I currently have 6 RBTA and one GBTA in my 90 gallon. They are all healthy and happy. I started with two RBTA and one GBTA the two RBTA split into 4 when my timer malfunctioned and my 400 w MH light stayed on for 24 hours. Then two of those split again when I switched over to LED's. They have all stayed put for quite awhile and have great color. As far as bubble tips it varies from week to week and one nem to another, I wish someone could figure out the magic formula.

If you don't mind my asking, what is your LED setup? How are the nems doing under LEDs?

Thx.

I have two 120 watt led units that contain half white and half blue leds over my 90 gallon corner bowfront the blue and white are on separate timers. The blue come on an hour before the white then both stay on for 8 hours and the blue stay on an hour after that . They have been in use for about three months. They replaced a 400W Metal Halide pendant. Everything in the tank has done extremely well since the switch. Two of the RBTA split about a week after the change and some of the others moved around a little but now they are all beautifully colored and seem to be happy.

wow those are some healthy looking anemones. if you could give me a lttle help with mine i would be very greatful.

I have one GBTA and when i bought it about 3 weeks ago it was looking very healthy. It remained looking healthy in my tank for a a few days and then it seemed to start shriveling up. I was hopiong it would get better and i have been doing alot to boost the quality of my water. just did a 25% water change and tested my water with a little testing kit. the guy at the fish store helped me. it turned out everything was on target except ph level which was a little low, so i bought ph buffer and just added it a few minutes ago.

any advice to getting him looking healthy again. everything else in my tank seems to be doing well.

Sorry. I have been doing a lot of aquarium related changes and have been busy setting up a second 360.

The tank is doing great! The Sunburst is now being used as the main host by the clowns. It hasn't split yet but is getting pretty big. An absolute amazing specimen.

The Rose and Green nems will be going into the 360 after a couple months and the Sunburst will be the sole specimen in this tank. Should be pretty sweet to have a 6x4x2h BTA species tank. I bet I could get 400+ in it if I do the rock properly. The lighting on my display is getting older so I will probably replace it and transfer my current lighting to the new BTA tank. I'm halfway through these bulbs so I am planning on 6 months for the transfer.

I hope your BTA did ok. A lot of the time they will shrink to unbelievably small sizes when you first add them and then will come back to normal size after a few days. They will do it on occasion and it is usually nothing to worry about.

When a nem dies it is a horrid smelling blob of slime. There is no mistaking it. Makes me gag just thinking of the smell

As far as what to do. Consistent levels, excellent water quality, and strong lighting. There really isn't much you can do other then that. Don't chase PH focus on dKh, Ca, Mg, Po4, NO3. 8 dKh, 420 Ca, 1260 -1350 mg , .03 or less PO4, Below 5 NO3 are good numbers to shoot for. I use salifert kits and a hanna 736 URL Phosphorus meter.

that'll be awesome to see a 360 with a whole lotta BTA's. :)

This is a pic of the GBTA with purple tips. I took this one 4 years ago but is still the best shot I have (hates my cameras). I hope the Sunburst splits as fast as the RBTAs and not like this one :D

Nice tank. I was thinking of plumbing my 40b to share my 90's sump. I have a GBTA that is purple with green tips, so I will have to think about getting a green one with purple tips later. I like the idea of taking clones from the larger tank and putting them in the smaller one. I only have 2 nems right now though and the clowns are in the RBTA (which is larger).

Do you think the 3 percs will continue to get along in the 40b?

I will try for some pics today.

Essentially the 40b as a RBTA tank has numbered days and will soon be devoted only to the sunburst. The tank is full. I estimate there are over 70 anemones in the tank.

I doubt I am moving them into the new 360 but will likely move them into a 50g rubbermaid vat. I am now planning on moving in a few months which threw a kink in some of my plans. New house will have a dedicated fish room but I will need the new 360 to house my fish until the real tank is assembled. I am looking to construct a 8x8x3 glass display in the new house.

Robosnail better come out with a cleaner that works on 3/4-1" glass...

Thats a really nice setup you have there. I bought a RBTA under year ago and I now have 9. They never seem to get really big, the biggest is about 4/5 inches. Does anyone know why they split? is it just the species or variety i have?

Thanks.

They will get bigger. My largest is at least 16" in diameter. Trade some of them in to the LFS for store credit.
