My 120 filled mostly with SPS

I really love that you added all the chromis. If they can settle in and get to the right number they will grow quite large as well. My 8 have been happy for quite some time now. I love how they school but I also love how they hide in the branches of my acros.

Tank looks great man!

That is good to hear about yours, you definitely helped sway me in this direction, I enjoy watching them too. I wish they went into the acros more during the day, but they typically only do this at night, and just after lights on or before lights out.

In #678 is the photo of A. Plana, is this a tabling acro and does it have a deep blue in daylight ? What is the full name of this piece ?
What a great find in #677 of the tabling acro starting with a $10 frag, how long did it take you to grow the frag into a nice colony ?

Your build thread has been a source of inspiration and information for me. Would love to get a recommendation for a deep blue tabling acro that can match the color of a purple tang.

Sorry for the late reply! The A. Plana does sort of have a tabling growth format, but I wouldn't call it a true tabler for example like A. Hyacinthus or similar. I think most people call it Crayola Plana.

The #677 didn't take too long to grow into a colony, maybe 9 to 12 months, but I've started from a frag on a couple of occasions.

As an update, my tank is in the process of being taken down unfortunately as I will be moving in September. Due to closing on the same day on both ends, realistically was going to be too difficult to move the tank on the same day as everything else. Looking to potentially start setting up a new system this coming winter once we get settled into our new place.

I had a issue recently with FE - I had a ton of planaria and my goal was to get rid of them and get some nice final video and pictures - however, the use of FE and the sheer number of planaria caused a toxicity/nutrient spike, and the coral suffered.

As of last night, all the coral has been sold and is in a new home! Sad to see the tank this morning without it.

Jordan, yes you are missing this tank. But just think, you will have a better one in a near future. Can't wait to see your tank build thread. Happy moving!!!

Jordan, I´m sorry to hear that. Your tank and photography was always a pleasure to appreciate. One of my favorites here in RC for sure and the way it has matured is really something to serve as reference in the future. Your artistic eye for coral placement and overall layout has definitely been captured in your last photo update so, in my point of view, your tank has a great remembering.

Your next project will certainly be something even more beautiful and I honestly await with great expectancy. :)

Good luck with the move and keep us updated.

So sorry to hear the news but wish you the very best in your new home. Thanks for all the inspiration and definitely thanks for sharing all your experiences. You built a great system, I will miss seeing your updates.

Sorry to hear about this, loved your tank and obviously the insane photogrpahy skills

Waiting for the next one :p

Wow. That's such a bummer. :/

I had an epic fail when I moved. It's just overwhelming to move in itself, then trying to move the tank is an additional burden. Best to frag it forward or sell and begin again. The nice thing about starting over is you get to do things better. Good luck starting over Jordan.

I've been lurking around this forum for a while, and not contributing a whole ton... anyway, here is my 120 gallon tank that is SPS dominant, hope you enjoy.

Beautiful colors!

This tank is still one of my favorites. I my mind it goes down with those distinct looking reefs that you remember forever. Looking forward to the next one.

Thanks everyone for all the comments! I feel like I've gotten a lot more from RC than I've contributed to it. If anyone has learned, been inspired, etc. from my tank, I am very happy to hear it. I feel the same way about countless tanks here. Definitely some motivation moving forward to get a new system up and running. I enjoy the photography aspect of the hobby, and it has become a hobby in of itself. As with the reef, it is difficult finding the time to fully enjoy it though due to work, family, and other commitments. I'm looking forward to our move, it is going to be a lot of work, but hopefully won't be happening again for a long while!

What would you do differently with the new tank? And rough specs?

I think my next tank I'd go 48" by 36" by 20" or 24". More square and use a wavemaker. Other than that, probably stick with T5/LED combo, and KISS - strong skimming, biopellets, small amount of GFO, and good balance of fish to feed with the number of corals. Really I think that is the key, finding that balance and ensuring all parameters are stable.
