My 120 filled mostly with SPS

When we were looking for our house all I kept thinking about was where will my go lol..I like the 48x36x20 I was gonna go with that but my measurement was off after our house was built I ended up with a 48x30..wish I could do the 48x36...can't wait to see your next build

Jordan where you using bio pellets in this tank?(sorry if you have mentioned it before)
If yes,how many ml?

Yes, I was. Not much really though, I found more just gave me cyano. I was using about 250 - 300 ml in a modded TLF 150 with a MJ 800 or 1200.

For wave maker would you use TUNZE?

Yes, I picked up a used Tunze Wavebox 6215.

Thanks, I like the dimensions too, 48 x 30 is definitely better than 48 by 24!

Jordan, have you decided on a new tank size or even placed an order for the new tank?

Hey Sahin, good to hear from you, hope all is well. I ended up moving my 120 over to my new place as I couldn't sell it. I was asking $500 for the tank, canopy, lighting, stand, sump, and all the plumbing, and couldn't get it done in time, and the cost of replacing all that now with a new system isn't in the cards (moving is expensive!). Anyhow, what I'm hoping to do is set my tank back up, new and improved, maybe in the new year. I'll redo the stand a bit and match it to the furniture where I plan on setting up the tank, and I removed the overlow as it was cracked, so I'll replace that. In the new place, I'll have room to have a remote sump and frag tank - won't be a complete fish room, but will be a significant upgrade, for me anyway!

I did get a quote on a custom 48" by 36" by 24" 180 gallon three sided starfire tank - that is what I would have went with in all likelihood - but that will have to wait for another time.

So sad, but excited to see what you do next!

Thanks! Currently I'm pretty exhausted, and I need some time to recharge the batteries, but I'll be back :)

Excellent news Jordan! Glad to hear your still addicted  Looking forward to your next build.

Awesome that you will be restarting soon! Just spend time with the existing setup and correct any small issues before startup...a new system always costs a bomb, so get back into the hobby with the current tank, then when suitable, maybe upgrade.

Honestly, I think many hobbyists upgrade too quickly...most systems are setup for a couple of years and then quickly upgraded...

Anyway, look forward to the restart. :)

Great to hear you aren't out for good!
Looking forward to your next project.

Yes, the lure of the upgrade is tough to resist. I'm still excited though about setting up again from scratch, making those improvements as you noted, and being better in my selection of corals right from the start.

I miss your beautiful photos. Love to see you restart again with gorgeous pictures.

Thanks Bernie, I miss taking photos, my camera has been sitting in a drawer for a while now, haven't even been getting shots of the kid - that will change very soon however thankfully.

Ditto! This is great news... Your last setup motivated me not to give up on SPS just yet,... Looking forward to your new startup.

Cant let this thread get buried too far! It was TOTM material for sure.

We have a new build thread to look forward to!

Jordan, hope all is well with you and yours !

Can't wait to see what you do with the fresh start mate, lots of us are looking forward to your new display of colors

Thanks guys appreciate all the kind comments! I've been chipping away at the build... if it seems like I'm not here too much its because I'm busy with my build :)

Your T5 Led combination has made my new lighting decision clear. I have decided on going with 20k BML XB and super actinic BML XB LED strips with 4 T5's. I know you did a diy led but do you think the LED selected would be sufficient, and what would you Reccomend for the T5 bulbs. My only experience is with Mh and LED. Thanks! Your tank was absolutely amazing by the way!
