Wow, you gave me so much useful info. Thanks so much. I have copied this post to my note and review it from time to time. And of course, I will try the methodology you used. Will pm you if I got any shots need help.
Bernie
No problem Bernie. Those are just how I do it - I've still got lots to learn, you may find with practice that you have better results with different methodologies. Also, I should have mentioned that there is a photography sub forum here on RC, which is also a good spot to look for help/feedback.
wow what a beautiful tank you got..wish mine was as beautiful as yours..
Thanks - it looks cluttered to me at the moment, I need to get rid of some pieces of coral and some frags - I have some cyano as well - but of course I don't post pics of that! At the moment when I look at the tank I cringe because I feel there are several things on the to-do list that I need to do.
that dark purple digitata above your monti cap, is that an acurate color, or is that a light issue with teh pictures?
I'm not sure which picture you are specifically referring to - the purple digitata is a nice purple, but not mind blowingly so - I'll try and post another pic. That coral is growing into the green cap, and my orange digi is growing into the purple digi. Its my montipora corner I guess.
Beautiful corals.
Thank you, I owe a lot to other reefers who have been generous enough to pass them may way (and a few from the LFS never hurt either).
I like your description on how you take your pics and use the imagine editing software to wb your shots. Too bad I do not have a cam that lets me shoot in RAW mode, but it does allow me to adjust the wb on the camera itself.
I get good shots but as you say take a lot of pics and change settings so tat you can get a shot that you are happy with.
Thanks for the tips!
No problem. Most cameras (DSLR's most definitely) should have a custom WB feature that allows you to set the WB by shooting something white or a grey card to manuallly set the balance - I've never had much success doing things that way, but it is another way to get the balance in camera.
