My 240g FOWLR

You're too critical :) beautiful pictures, definitely an inspiration. Especially like the blue-line, how is her temperament with the butterflys?

Thanks! No problems so far, but she's still small. However, since my giant male meredithi doesn't bother the butterflies, I'm hoping the blueline won't either.

The fowleri is growing, though slowly. Just like the Rock Beauty, honestly.

Peter, your tank looks good as always. I love your blue line and meredethi angels. The navarchus looks great as well.

As usual great looking tank, I am surprised how clean your LR and sand look, great job. I meant surprised because of the amount of fish.

Thanks. To be honest it has its good and bad days. Usually if the algae gets bad it means something isn't set right, like the air intake to the skimmer is slightly clogged with salt creep, or something like that.

Also, 2 tangs, a parrotfish, and the recent addition of 4 golden headed sleepers really helps :) Though, I still need to use a gravel vacuum on the sand occasionally to remove detritus, as well as blowing the rocks with a MJ1200 powerhead during water changes to get the crap out of the rocks.

Sold off the semilarvatus butterfly today. He was very aggressive, and a local buddy made me an offer that I would have to have been comatose to refuse :)

Too bad, they are a great-looking fish. Mine swims circles around my Vortec MP40 (parallel to the glass) for extended periods. The raccoon sometimes joins the semi swimming around the MP40 for a while. My semi has shown no aggressiveness so far, although it was one of the last fish in the tank.

Sorry to hear, he looked huge in your pics.
Are you going to try another smaller one, or are you done with them altogether?

Semilarvatus behavior is just so unpredictable, and not just between each other, but unfortunately with other tank inhabitants. I had a pair of semilarvatus that I raised from small juveniles in my 300 gallon. They got along and would swim as a pair, but I believe they only tolerated each other. What is funny is when I chose to sell them, the guy who bought them had immediate issues when he put them in his tank. They were so aggressive to each other that one had to be removed. It is too bad because they are a gorgeous fish

How big is the Mitratus, and how long have you had it? Mine is 10-12 years old and has grown from maybe nickel sized when purchased to maybe half dollar sized. But come to think of it, I've never seen a "big" one.

She's small still. Maybe a couple inches. Hasn't grown much. I've had her for 15 months.

Any plans to try another Semi? Perhaps yours was just a particularly frisky individual. Might be fun to start from scratch with a small one.
