My Carpet/Haddoni ate $200 worth of fish : (

Todd, I thought you had unsubscribed. I'm not trying to be "cool". I think I'm past that stage in my life where I have to try to be anything I'm not although I'm not 30 yet. You shared your opinions on haddoni anemones and I shared mine. They are obviously different and I'll leave it at that.

E.J. Coral, "typical cheby driver", turning green with envy are we? So do you buy your hatorade in bulk all the time? I have never thought I was better than anyone else because God has blessed me with materialistic possessions in life. I know that doesn't make you a better person than anyone else. I'm single and don't have children and working for the city affords me some toys, but I would never talk down to anyone else. I just want to get that straight.

The point I was trying to make is that although I'm not part of the "tang police", I do hate when people take things that should belong in the wild and aren't responsible about it. I'm not better than anyone else as I have been guilty of that in the past. And this doesn't only pertain to anemones, if I see someone housing a lion at the zoo in a small cage, I think that's morally wrong as well. It just so happens that in this case we're talking about reefing and keeping anemones in particular and keeping animals that grow to large proportions in a "small" tank is irresponsible if not done the right way. If your tank is dedicated to carpets and they are all thriving, great job and so my comments don't pertain to you. However, if someone has multiple carpets with fish in a tank that will put those fish in danger of being eaten, then I think that's irresponsible and if the shoe fits (sorry that I have to be the opinionated one here) it's time to lace that puppy up.

OrionN, I completely agree with you and you put everything I wanted to say in a nice way that probably won't offend or hurt people's feelings so thanks.

Hatorade?? I was just giving you a hard time about your vette, because I am a Mopar guy .... All fun and games! Corvettes are beautiful cars, and definitely my favorite chevy. i especially love admiring them through my rear view....Do you ever make it to Irwindale?

 :)

The only way you would see my black beast in your rearview mirror is when your car is being towed after breaking down and I'm laughing and waving good bye ; )
With the goodies I have under the hood, I'm up to 518 rwhp...can you say PROCHARGER?
No, I don't go to Irwindale as I honestly don't have time to get out there but a lot of the guys that have vettes that I meet up with do take them there on Thursdays.

Cool. You probably have me for now. I only put down 430rwhp at 10psi with a 3800# curb weight. But I do have 16# pulley ready to go.

Can you say Vortech? LMAO.... typical cheby owner..

Probably?
I have more goodies in the goodie bag yet to add also but for now my mortgage and my reef tank have priority so my black beast Yvette will have to wait for more upgrades.

Carpets

Carpets

Im pretty sure that anemones dont have gills or require "swimming space" to properly live like tangs.

I understand what your saying about tangs police and not having a nem in a 90 gallon.

I have a st. gigantea in 30 breeder. Footprint of the tank is 36 x 18. I, I repeat I beleive that if you are responsible keeper of marine flora and fauna you will provide the optimul conditons.

My tank is a species only tank. The only thing in it is some live rock a pair of clowns and my gignatea. The gigantea is much stickier and stronger then a haddoni.

Tangwich your fish being eating is a result of lack of space and not providing optimul conditions. Its not really your fault most people who purchase carpets dont realize the risk involved. Im not trying to bash you or start a rift but once a carpet does reach larger sizes what ever you have in your box of water aka aquarium is at risk. Getting rid of it is the smart choice for your tank and its inhabitants.

As todd said hes only lost bottum dwellers. MOST fish like tangs avvoid anemones at all cost. I have only lost bottum dwellers to carpets but you do hear about people losing free swimming fish.
Most of the time i feel that these fish get caught going after food or are not on top of their game so to speak.
Any healthy tang should be able to detach its body from the anemones tentacles and swim off with a warning scar.

Anemones dont eat whole open water fish. Its impossible because of where carpets are mostly found. Shallow waters! Often times gigantea is exposed to air because of where they are found. Most haddonis live in the sand, no TANG goes down that far on a reef unless there is rocks around that need cleaning.
Most carpets feed on the results of a feeding frenzy or the bottum dweller who gets to close and is not a strong swimmer.

Again im not trying to bash you but its facts. Its not your fault, i pretty sure no one said tangs in home aquarium dont act the same as ones in the wild. In an enclosed area like a fish tank animals with a brain will act differently. Anemones dont have a brain and pretty much are the venus fly trap of the ocean, they act the same most of the time. Thats why we lose so many anemones in the trade because when you put them in your tank they act like they do in the wild.
