Neptune WAV - anyone getting it?

I've had it sitting in my cart all day... tempting. I usually don't go for gen1's of things, but I really like the idea of the WAV.

It's pretty easy. Just start slow. Get it to connect and then get a ph reading. Then slowly get more involved.

Or... send everything to me and I will test it on my system until you are ready... :)

It's so over my head. I'm trying to get my Ca Reactor on line and it might as well be written in Martian.

Sorry to derail..

I'm not. My MP-40's work well, and I will stick with them for the foreseeable future.

Unless MACNA treats me really well. :)

It'll take a lot to pull me away from the Ecotechs. If I see it in person and it totally blows me away I might consider it.

I used to run those huge Tunze 6061s or whatever. They were bomb proof but bulky. I love the lo-pro of the Vortechs and their programmability etc. You can't "aim" them very well and I refuse to run them on the side glass. I can't stand the look of them on the sides.

The wav looks like the Tunze and the MPs had a baby. Pretty cool, but I'll stick with the Vortechs. If I was going to start from scratch and do a big tank with a big ole stack of rocks, the Wav's would definitely go into consideration.....even if I can't #^*#£!!! program the things...

That makes sense. If I already had two vortechs I wouldn't switch. I have the jabao rw-8's. They get the job done, but I'm not wild about them.

Ecotech is great until you get one drop of water on the dryside. Then kiss it goodbye Terrible engineering IMHO.
Couple that with the fact that their software and website are finicky as hell about system requirements and you get overpriced products. Again IMHO
And I own 4 of their lights.
When you buy a Neptune product It just works period.
I'll wait until I hear or see how these preform. But I AM thinking about them seriously.

Gandolf8,
Looking forward to see your thoughts on the new Wav. The Gyre look interesting, but they are large and seem susceptible to snails. Already use Tunze with Apex so a Wav may be in my future.

Neptune WAV - anyone getting it?

i was really looking into the new wav but at the price they will sell here in austria i can get around 20 wp40's!! that can do the same essential thing with the vdm harness which is moving water with different profiles. do i want the extra gizmos like the rpm and flow statistics and out of water sensor? sure!!! do i need them??? not for 500€. :-)

tbh for most need it all tech geeks the fancy fusion wav and flo gfx is THE selling point here... hehe i wont even start with vortech pumps as their price is just over the moon. i think neptune has a big seller here as i think the wav will be soon be the defacto pump sold with every apex. very clever strategy here :-)

The more I browse this website the more I will spend LOL!

Just ordered the WAV set, should have it by the end of the week. I have a original MP10WES pump, then upgraded to the QD version. Hoping to get both going but too much of eye sore by sticking them to the sides of tank. In terms of noise, they're actually quite noisy, even the new QD version.

My overflow is the whole back side of the tank so I can't stick the MP10's at the back of the tank.

MP10's work well with Apex for programming, hopefully the new WAV is easy to set up as well. I look forward putting the power heads at the back of tank, Friday can't come soon enough :)

I have two concerns with the WAV.

1. The iLink only controls 3 pumps. Not sure why you would need an odd number pumps. Personally I would need 4 pumps. I currently use 4 6105s.
2. Compalred to a 6105 how well will these aim. I have my 6105s on the back of the tank mostly hidden behind rock. Would these have to be on the ends of the tank?

They can only be angled 20 up or down. While that should be plenty for the end of a tank, I believe it will prevent them from being an effective pump for the rear wall of a long (non-cube) tank.

I set mine up today. The hardest parts were removing my VDM and Jebao RW-8s and upgrading the firmware to 4.4. I had to reseat the cables once to get everything to show up in fusion.

The configuration is a breeze, as far as getting them up and going, and some of the presets are interesting. I'll need to do some homework to get some of the day of week variation that I was achieving with the VDM and RW-8s.

The pumps are about 10-15% bigger than the RW-8s. They're pretty strong too. I'm not going over 70% in my 90 right now. They're also insanely quiet. I'm interested to see if this remains the case as they break in or develop calcium buildup.

Not true. Since they're held on by a magnet, you can just turn the magnet clockwise/counterclockwise to get the angled flow. Not as easy to angle as the Tunze, but you can achieve the same effect.

Now... the magnet for the RW-8 is round, so doing this didn't trigger any OCD. The magnets for the WAV are square, so I know that some of us will have a problem seating them on the glass crooked :)
