If you want to help test the latest firmware for the AC3 or AC3Pro, then read on. Don't expect this release to be perfect - that is why it is a beta release. I recommend that you wait for the final release if for any reason you are not comfortable putting beta firmware in your controller.

This firmware has significant improvements, and the new features include:
- Flash based graphing application
- RSS, and XML web pages added.
- new web page for configuration of network settings.
- allow feed cycles to be started from web page.
- initial select press does not cancel feed cycle
- enhanced support for the iPhone AquaNotes app.

W00t! Thanks, Curt. It was a flawless upgrade, and I am thrilled with the new functionality, especially the web-based net configuration page. The Flash-based graphs are so much better than the Java-based ones. Love the RSS/XML too.

One cosmetic issue noted: In status.xml, device ON and OFF status shows as AON and AOF respectively. (outlog.xml is fine though)

PHP:
- <outlet>
  <name>MNB</name>
  <state>AOF</state>
  </outlet>
- <outlet>
  <name>MNW</name>
  <state>AON</state>
  </outlet>

Could rss.sht and the 3 xml files be anonymously available (without authenticating)? Or, at least by implementation of a read-only guest account?

Now I gotta get to work upgrading my website;)

That is by design. It means automatic on and automatic off.

We have decided to leave it password protected for security reasons.

I'm having some issues. It seems as though not all of the pages uploaded and it doesn't work with my Mac, either Safari or FireFox.

Make sure that all the web pages have been updated in the controller. You should see a 'success' after it web page update. If not that web page didn't update.

Curt

Aiko, in the AC3Loader status window you should see the following files uploaded with a 'Success' reported for each, in this order:

aqua.css
index.htm
menu.htm
title.htm
netsetup.asp
settemp.xml
setorp.xml
setph.xml
arial.swf
swfobjec.js
rss.sht
fatgraph.swf

You may see some messages about buffers as well. If you do not see 'Success' for each of the above files, copy and paste the output here.

I keep getting a timeout when I try to flash the firmware... The device gets an IP, but it doesn't seem to be responding....

Any ideas?

Don

OK, I got the firmware to flash with the tftpd option, but now I can't get it to update the web pages. Is there a way to do that manually? It isn't working with AC3 Loader.

Don

I suspect that you are using windows Vista â€"œ sometimes it blocks the packets in our ac3loader. Instead download http://www.neptunesys.com/tftpd32.exe and follow these steps to update:

Put the tftpd32.exe executable, and the aqua.bin file from the firmware update package into the same directory.
Run the tftpd.exe application.
Make sure that the current directory field points to the directory where you extract the zip file.
On the DHCP server tab:
Make the IP pool starting address an unused IP address on your local
network (usually something like 192.168.1.50).
Set the netmask (usually 255.255.255.0)
Make the size of pool equal to 1 or more.
Set the boot file to aqua.bin
Click the save button.

Make sure that no other DHCP server is running on your local network.

Shut off all firewalls/filters on your PC.

Then restart the AquaController 3 by power cycling.
Press the select button and hold down during the Memory Test, when the display goes blank
release the select button.
Scroll to the update flash entry and press select
You should see the downloading window appear from the tftpd application.
After the download go to the selftest screen of the AquaController. The firmware version should
be 3.40.

I got the firmware to update, but the web pages won't upload to the unit.... I am not getting "Success" after any of the files...

I did double check the revision and it is at 3.4

Don

Here is the output I am getting from AC3Loader when I try to update the web page files. I am running vista, FYI.

Formatting Flash - Sending aqua.css - Sending index.htm - Sending menu.htm - Sending title.htm - Assigning Dynamic IP!
Sending netsetup.asp - Sending settemp.xml - Sending setorp.xml - Sending setph.xml - read to date: 54196236 bytes, reallocating buffer to 54196712
Sending arial.swf - Sending swfobjec.js - Sending rss.sht - read to date: 54196236 bytes, reallocating buffer to 54196712
read to date: 54196236 bytes, reallocating buffer to 54196712
Sending fatgraph.swf -

The IP address, login or password is not correct in the ac3loader. Double check the IP address in the AquaController (setup->netsetup->ip addr). Perhaps DHCP is turned on in the AquaController now, and the IP address is being dynamically assigned.

Nice update list!

It shouldn't be any issue to update if I haven't done so in 2+ years, no? I haven't had much reason to since all works perfectly, but these new features are enticing.

Thanks.

Always a good idea to back up your timers and program in case of data loss...

Nice update Curt. The new features are sweet! Especially the XML.

Seems pretty well mannered for a Beta.

I figured out my issue, so if anyone else runs across this...

I had changed the default TCP port for my website. I changed it back to 80 and everything worked fine.

Curt,

I was digging through the menus and saw something I did not remember before. It is under Net Setup on the controller itself. It was called AquaServ. Can you elaborate on what this is? From what I can tell, it looks like it is disabled, or not working... Whatever it is :D

Don

Curt - Thanks for the new features! I am really excited about the new graphing. I am heading out of town for several days so I don't think updating my ACII right now would be the best idea. I will give it a try when I get back though.

Would someone mind posting pictures of how things looks with the new firmware?
