New Camera (Canon 6D)

Very nice pics. For post processing, do you use a macro/template or just adjust manually. Is there a good thread for post?

I just picked up the 6D and am loving the full frame sensor. The low noise at high ISO is one benefit for sure.

Keep working on your white balance. I suggest shooting RAW and setting your WB during post. Super simple and very accurate color.

I do find that if you take shots under lower lighting and strong actinics, if you don't do the WB adjustment during capture, you cannot fully correct the "blue" hue in the photo.

I use adobe photoshop and a really old version of PS elements.

If you use photoshop you can use the WB filter setting during the import process. I use the "auto-level" function in adobe to see adjustments it makes as a starting point but usually you have to do thing manually to try to get the truest color representation of a shot.

In camera white balance settings have no effect on RAW data.

These started out as crappy tubes at the bottom of a frag tank ready to be thrown out. The skin was rotting in a few places. About 2 months later - starting to come around.

Fantastic shots Noy! You have a really incredible collection of corals/NPS... many of your pieces I've never seen elsewhere.

looks like you are getting the hang of it :)
nice shots and nice tank :)

thanks!

thanks Jordan, fun part is keeping them alive and thriving!

Couple more shots - Rock Flower Nem's!

This was a tricky shot. The rock flower anemone was directly behind and below (in height) my "rhizo farm". To frame the shot I had to shot at a 45 degree angle to right and probably about 6 inches above the subject (to shoot around the rhizo's). To minimize the chromatic aberration I used a 300mm telephoto with extension tubes and was positioned probably 2 feet from the tank. If anyone has pointers on this shooting problem - lmk!

Some of those shots are fabulous. I always am drawn to the ones which have the subject "pop" but the fish ones are impressive because fish are so difficult.

IQ is awesome, gotta love the 6d with decent glass on it. Only thing I would like to see is the flow cut off since corals look a lot better and there's a fair amount of shots with debre floating around that's distracting to the eye imo. Other than that they look good and the tank looks gorgeous.

duly noted! Although a couple of the gorg shots with the debris was me trying to induce the polyps to open up by putting food in the water column.
