New camera, new pics

I finally replaced my crappy Nikon Coolpix L6 camera with a decent camera. I bought a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ28 . Here are a couple pictures right out of the box. I have not had a chance to play with any of the manual settings yet. This thing is overwhelming and will shoot in RAW mode but the fully-auto setting is fine for now.

ummm...WOW!
if that is "right out of the box" photos, what else do you need?
great pix Jeff...look forward to more :)
how do you get that cool border (frame) around your photos?...is that software related?...

Thanks. I used Photoshop to put a frame around the pics. I still need to learn Photoshop, its extremely overwhelming :p.

Those are awesome I can't even get pics like that with my SLR or I just haven't learned how one or the other...are those bam bams?

Great pics Jeff!! I have just about the same camera, the FZ18
I looked for that one. It's the same camera really. The FZ28 is just the newest version.
Here's a few more pics I just snapped.

When you're in the "P" mode, you can mess with the white balance and after that, it's pretty easy. You can take pics high and low in the tank while making up for the different light.

I still have a ton of problems but I get a good shot every now and then!

Thanks guys. I'm not trying to show off the tank, there's nothing to show off, it's a mess atm. I am just messing around with this stuff. Photoshop is a PITA. I think I can just use the freebie editing program that came with the camera to start off.

Dude those cloves are sweet.
Thanks but to be honest they are not quit that purple, more of a tan/pink with orange and green highlights. For years, when I posted pictures I always had to say that the corals are much more colorful then the picture let on. Now I need to say the opposite. I really need to setup the white balance in the camera and maybe read the manual :p. The colors are a little too intense in a couple of the pictures. I also really need to work on sharpness.

looks good Jeff! whats a nice camera like that run ya? maybe you can figure out all the settings and photoshop while your waiting for fires haha ;-)

Nice pics Jeff. $300 is not that bad at all. Too bad you couldn't have found one at Circuit City when they were closing.
