New Chrysopterus!

Just got these guys last night. They seem very interested in the mag but have yet to take the plunge. I don't believe they are totally immuned to its sting yet. Also please look past the ailing corals. Had a bad bleaching event after adding bio pellets. Anyway, here ya go!

superb fish my friend!

if you can, take a picture at least once a week of them. i would like to see the progression of their color loss over the next four weeks.

White tails from the Solomon Islands. Those are nice! I have a pair hosting a Haddoni. I really like their size and personality. The seem to get along with everything in the tank except my Bangai Cardinals.

These came from Kwajalein. Which is the largest island in the chain of Marshall Islands from what I understand. I had never heard of that island before I got these guys. Anyway, I have owned SI chrysopterus a few times before I lost them to various shipping stress. Almost all of the Solomon chrys have black pectoral fins. Unfortunately, most from this locale(Marshall Islands) seem to lose their brilliant colors when kept in captivity. I'm hoping the natural sunlight this tank recieves might sustain their natural brilliance
For the record, S.I. Chrysopterus are the most beautiful clowns out there!

I have a pair also. My favorite.

The black fin variety is usually the melanistic variety associated with mertens anemone.

Have a QT on hand with all the appropriate meds. These guys are very sensitive the first weeks and can turn for the worse in a second.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I've dealt with quite a few sick chrys. These ones aren't showing any of the usual signs though. They are eating vigorously and are breathing quite normal.

Thanks Reefvette. I may have a source on a merten's carpet. The clowns haven't really showed that much interest in my mag so I'm tempted to explore this option.
