New ORA Release: Blue Iris Acro

I picked mine up on Saturday, for $43. But that was after my employee discount. The LFS where i run aquarium maintenance at has ORA frags for $59 for premium, $49 / $39 for everything else. I will have to comment that is piece is amazing! When we got the shipment in, the polyps of the blue iris were out within 10 minutes. When i brought it home they were right back out under full lighting within a minute. I have high hopes for this one!

Have we discussed placement yet? I skimmed through the 7 pages thus far and have not seen anyone mention where they have it placed.

I plan on placing it midway in my tank (about 12" from the bulb) directly under the bulb. It'll be on the same rock and level as my ORA pearlberry - which has great color.

EDIT*** SORRY IM DRUNK!

My iris is under 150w HQI 14k phoenix on E ballast about a 14" away from the bulb. Dead center. My other ORA pieces are being just blasted with light and they all seem to love it.

they can certainly me acclimated to our lights but i would have to say that after shipping and all they go though we can definitely provide them with too much light right off the bat.

mid tank between 2 of the 3 250w phoenix.....I put it the same level my hawkin's is as they have similar shape/color and it grows like a weed.

Heavy random flow. 45* angle with all the branches pointed up...

let it grow up a little before I post a pic of it on the rocks.

i put might right up on my frag rack under the light too, but im just saying ive done that with some ora stuff and cooked it.

this piece is looking better an better the more it is out of the natural sunlight. i cant wait for it to grow to a mini colony though.

Does anyone else have pictures of this coral in their tank?

I am curious if new ORA corals change color after a year of being under artificial lighting. Does this typically happen or does the coral continue to have the same color so long as it is under ideal conditions?

agreed with increased color DEEP green tissue going to dark blue tips and growth ring around the plug. Mine is already on the putty ring around the plug!

I just got mine it is really a great looking coral. After seeing the size of some of the frags, I'm a little dissapointed but I get good growth in my tank. any way I picked up the frogskin, blue Iris, and the purple Nana. I will take some pics when my lights come on.
