if it looks wet, i must be skimming wet. :)

I just switched out to the maxi jet 1200. Already seeing better production. Keep in mind, the amount of skimmate shown is two days worth.

I think I want to get the rps 2000 for my tank. I'm not happy with my tunze 9005 skimmer.

the thing is I only have 29" of clearance in my stand. the rps 2000 is supposedly 26.52 inches tall. Will i have enough room to take off the cup?

yup! I think yoiu only need 1 1/2" clearance!

as far as the skimmate pics, what would youi compare the color to? green tea or coffee?

That's not too shabby. Bubbles are quite large but it looks like there are enough of them.

Is there any way to restrict the air intake? (just an iota, a tad, a scoch)

Here's a thread on why this might help a skimmer -

RC Air input thread

And before anyone reams me a new one - yes, I'm aware where that link goes :D The mechanics behind NW skimmers are the same regardless of the brand.

Somebody said they wanted to see a photo of the impeller. Here you go. This is out of my RC-3000.

THERE IS NO WAY I WILL BUY A PACIFIC COAST SKIMMER AT THAT PRICE! I can get a geo skimmer for $550, an h&s 150-F2001 for $599, or an h&s A150-F2001 for $649! Why would i Pay that much for an unproven skimmer? Why would anyone? That is just rediculous.

The bad part is some of us know what the actual cost is right dh. I should post the email the we got from the guy in Hong Kong.

That looks the same as a GEN-X needlewheel

Do you have any idea if it looks the same as the oceanrunner needlewheel?

That means it is the same

two basic Needlewheel skimmer impellar designs

1). Sedra ER, ASM = PINWHEEL

2). Gen-x, OR/Aquamedic = NEEDLEWHEEL

let the flames begin j/k. Look it up what is that. lol It is easier to ask then to actually do the work dont you all know that. j/k I do that same I can google with the best but I often take the long way and ask and wait then no one answers so I bump then some one will finally get tired and answer the darn question. Oh well it is fun to pester people.

I just did some quick tests with air input and it does not seem to have a big effect on bubble size. Hard to quantify with my little JG ball valve.
