ok, so what is the goal of the air adjustment. to make as tiny bubbles as possible? Im a still a little fuzzy on the point of it all.

The reason why the impeller looks exactly like that of the OceanRunner is because....TADA.... It IS basically an OceanRunner pump. The same company Hailea (sp?) that makes OceanRunner pumps make these pumps.

I think he was referring to adding a valve onto the air hose itself to control the air intake. At least on my skimmer, it does affect bubble size.

Something like this perhaps

The bad part is some of us know what the actual cost is right dh. I should post the email the we got from the guy in Hong Kong.

Yes don't remind me . I think the prices on these things have tripled since I first posted the original thread.

Can't remmeber who it was that posted the Excel spread sheet of all the prices. But they were CHEAP... Key word here is "were"

ya i got that, just wondering what is the point/ is it worth fiddling with?

It may or may not. That valve in the photo I sent set me back a whole $4 from Home Depot so it wouldn't hurt too much to try it out.

Perhaps someone could find some actual data or more threads on the subject. This would be worth it if there is a significant improvement in performance.

I know one thing for a fact is that your salinity can greatly affect the surface tension and subsequently bubble size. Might worth a check into your water.

I'm looking to get a new skimmer for my 90 (currently have an ASM G1X on a 37), and I'm trying to decide between an ASM G3 or RPS-2000 RC. Would the performance of the RPS-2000 RC be better than the G3?

no question get the Recirculating. Should be a lot better performance. I am pulling lots of gunk from my BB tank.

I'm so tempted to pull the trigger on the RPS-2000. But I just can't decide between the RPS-2000, the ASM G3, or a Euro Reef Blem ES6-3. Is this RPS-2000 really pulling out some nice gunk? Good choice for a 90? I hate buying decisions!!!

I've never run a G3 but based on my experiences with a G2, I would take a RPS-2000 any day of the week.

what happend with the G-3?
