Yeah, I once built a beckett skimmer.

Yeah, I once built a beckett skimmer.

I looked at that thing for weeks!

Can't wait for the RCS-2000 to lake up my time...

Nope, I still haven't gotten my skimmer. It's only supposed to be coming from San Diego, and was supposed to have shipped on the 14th according to the USPS "tracking", but who knows. I'm getting little peeved, it should not take this long to get something from San Diego to Fremont, CA if it shipped on the 14th. Here's what the tracking has said since the day it shipped:

"Status: Electronic Shipping Info Received

The U.S. Postal Service was electronically notified by the shipper or shipping partner on March 14, 2006 to expect your package for mailing. This does not indicate receipt by the USPS or the actual mailing date. Delivery status information will be provided if / when available. Information, if available, is updated every evening. Please check again later."

Even if it shows up today, I won't be home, and USPS won't leave it at my apartment rental office like UPS and FedEx. So if it does show this week, I won't have time to pick it up from the post office until Saturday.

Just received my NW-200 today!!! I'm pretty impressed with Aquacave--I ordered it on the 16th and received it today. That's pretty quick IMO.

I would like to point out that Matt from reeftanksupply.com has been very great about working with me regarding the shipping problem with my skimmer. Hopefully I should have my skimmer soon.

I'm going to order the psi 3000, I'll have to use it externally. anyone have a picture with it setup external so I can get some ideas? Matt at reeftank supply has the best prices and has responded to all my emails, so I'll be ordering from him.

Every time I have tried to communicate with him he has either called me right back within minutes or written me back via email asap, I'll purchase from him again for sure.

Received my NW-200 yesterday. I was a little worried at first because the box was really beat up by ups, but Aquacave really over-packed it so the skimmer was undamaged.
Dang--this thing is huge!!! I though it would be about the size of my previous CSS220 as it is rated about the same, but this thing is almost twice the size. I'll try to post some pics this weekend.

Im not posting this as a bash but c'mon, why would anyone pay these prices when yoiu could get a skimmer that has been proven for just a small chunk of change more......I really was thinking that I was going to try one out until the sudden price increase! these guys are still getting them at the same price but yet they saw the interest in them and bang!! perfect opp for filling their pockets

It is not uncommon for someone with a new product in a given market to do an initial offering of said product to get people to try it out. The idea behind this is that most people are reluctant to fork out good cash on an unproven product. However, people are willing to take a chance when there is a financial incentive to do so. I would be one of those people. I am putting together a 240g SPS tank. I have spared no expense on setting it up. I had planned to spend a considerable chunk of change on a name brand skimmer, that is until I walked into my LFS and they had these on display. At over half the cost, I figured it was worth a shot. My point is that many companies do this. They want to create a buzz about there product. I would have to say mission accomplished. As for the fact that it costs so little to produce. While the manufactures cost may be significantly lower, that number is not entirely accurate. That number is more than likely a cost based on quantity. You can make one at x but you can make 1,000 for marginally more. There pricing also would not reflect importing as well as the costs incurred by the distributor and or LFS. The fact of the matter is that this is a nice skimmer for a good price. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Just my .02
