*NEW* Sequence Skimmer - Any Interest?

chetm2 - Nice grab. I'd love to get one for my future tank but not sure that will happen. Have an AP701 on the 58gal waiting for the big tank to be set up someday. Would love to have a reflo though :(

I really want to see what the RC180 can do or how the ER eheims compare to the Deltec ones.

Fliger - You getting one? I figured a skimmer freak like you would have one by now

David - Funny, I was going to PM you and see what you thought being the skimmer Guru. And I drink Coors cause I'm watching my figure ;)

Lunchbucket - well buy my ER so you can do the comparison test!

Here is some pics after 25 hours of operation. I'm really liking this skimmer.

Once I sell my other 58gal RR if I sold my AP701 I'd have enough $$ to get one of these bad boys ;) Now I just need to sell the tank!!

You won't regret it, I promise. ;)

You might regret having to clean the collection cup every 48 hours and stinking up your house with nasty nog.

Good news on pricing! Reeflo has decided to extend the special intro price to the end of September at $1299. This gives a few of you guys on the fence a little more time to weigh it out! :)

I finally put together the skimmer, needed this thread to figure out where those two white bolts where for though :).

in this thread, optimum flow is listed 350-400 amd again 400-600. which is it? tanks about 450 total but I think what optimum for the skimmer is more important than x times the tank volume.

suggested feed pumps for this? I was going to run the overflows through it but then I need a pump to run the sump/fuge/frag tank anyway so I might as well stay with the independent pump.

thanks in advance.

I am using a sealine sl 6540 thats rated for 760 GPH at a max head of 10 feet.
Seems to be working great for my skimmer and they both take the same size hose.

Yak:

they fit in the two olbows connecting the pump to the skimmer box. You will see the holes in the fitting, they lock the elbow to the black piece of pipe.

as stated, I figured it out using this thread.

after reviewing the situation down stairs, I need your opinion. have a sequence 3200 pushing up one floor. draining back across the basement cieling horizontally. If I put in a T and had a down 1 inch pipe direct into the skimmer, would that be enough GPH or would most of the water just run over the top and across? I can then dump the skimmer into the fuge and save the extra pump. Would it be enough?

I would add a T with a valve on each of the two outlets. That will allow you to control the flow precisely. I dont know if it is possible for you or not, but this kind of configuration really requires an emergency overflow in case the valves get blocked, accidently turned etc to prevent the tank overflowing.

I have valves on both my overflows but only use the one on the feed to the skimmer to control the flow more precisely.

Are you asking which feed pump to use? I personally say use whatever pump you are comfortable with using, as long as you can achieve the desired flow throught that you're after.
