Please kindly share your input, I am curious... :spin1:

If it were you setting up a new system, what specific items would you most likely incorporate?

It's okay to dream once in a while, and I need a game plan for the near future! :lol2:

1) setup display tank on or near wall with a sideroom to store all equipment/sumps, etc so it is easily accessible

2) I think I would design a better way to do water changes. Maybe have 2 x 50G barrels - one is plumbed into the tank to act as additional water storage but plumb it so it can be bypassed. Have the second tank as fresh makeup saltwater fed by DI, etc filtering. This way you can enable the bypass on T1 without affecting the main display tank, drain T1, transfer fresh saltwater from T2 to T1, disable the bypass on T1 and your done. Wait for T2 to refill with DI and add salt and mix and do it again.

3) Make sure to have air exhaust from sump area and lighting area - this way you move a lot of heat and humidity out of the house

From what I remember, you have a pretty cool set up already :)

Calcium reactor with electronic regulator. I used to dose my first tank then added the calcium reactor to the next one. That was certainly my reef ah ha moment.

My reef ah ha moment was making the water changes as easy as possible, makes me more likely to do my maintenance. I would go with the automatic water change idea and a nice big work room to spread out.

Haven't gotten a CO2 tank yet so Ill see if I would put it as a must have soon.

hmmm, my dream system? To live on a tropical island and have the auto water changer come straight from the ocean :)

Maybe some cameras in the ocean with a live feed to a big screen with a sign that says "tap on the glass all you want - dumb a55"

live on a tropic island and have not tank. ;)

I would be diving a ton and not have to worry about electrical outages, tank crashes, feeding fish, fish dying, cleaning skimmer, ...
