New to Stomatopods and looking for input

Didn't even think about it becomig food. Also, looking at my tank again tonight with the lights on I'm not sure there would be enough light. Could be but I think I'll just keep it in my main tank. It sure would look nice in there though. Oh well.

The clam is awesome and would love to add it to this tank but will leave it in my main tank. The zoas are starting to open up and will eventually be added to this tank.

So, still planning and thinking about what all to add.

So far it's going to be those zoa's and the mantis. I was wanting a tuxedo urchine but I'd also like to grow some macro algae in the tank so that combo will not work. I have to decide which I want more.

If I don't go with the tuxedo urchin I'm still thinking of a fighting conch. I'm also thinking of adding a small red rockflower anemone. I'd also like one more type of soft coral, maybe a white pompom xenia.

The fighting conch will either be dinner for the mantis or it will disappear in the sand and you'll never see it.

I don't mind it disappearing and seeing it every so often or just the periscope come up. Thought it might be big enough for the g.smithii to just bang away on and give up?? Though I'm sure it's always a risk as with anything that's added.

I like Peacocks.

I think they are very beautiful as well but I do not have the setup for one. My tank is not big enough and I'd have way to much light for one in my tank.

BTW, I hope you're not just trying to increase your post count. If you are please at least respect this very special subsection and read the stickies to learn a lot about a great species.

Okay, time for some visuals on what I'd like in the tank. No clam and no conch :(

Pretty much all low to moderate flow and light requirements on each of these.

Here's the zoas I already got plus one mystery polyp on the rock.

I'm leaning heavily towards the tuxedo uchine as I'd like to put items in this tank that I can't or don't want in my main tank.

btw, parameters are indicating near cycle end. I put some frozen mysis in the tank when I started it up. Still a bit of nitrite and nitrate but ammonia is down to 0. I just added a bit more mysis tonight to see how the tank spikes in the next few days or not. If not then next week I'll get a nice sized water change in and move a few of the zoas over to see how they do but not the entire coloney.

Went to put the tetra powerfilter on the back and realized there's one small problem. It fits back there but it JUST fits. So, I wouldn't be able to clean it out or change the filter with out pulling the tank out every time. The shelf on top is right on top of it.

So, I picked up a Current Subcurrent from a LFS that I think will work great. It sits in the aquarium and I can easily get to it from the top. Plus I like the loc-line like flow redirections.

To many gadgets and to many that don't work as advertised.

The subcurrent is working great though. I love that it's a surface skimmer. All the junk on the surface of the water is all gone and its crystal clear. I didn't put in the bioballs. I can just put in carbon, gfo, and filter floss.

Here's a pictures of the subcurrent in the tank looking down from the top. Just have to remove the lights and I have full access to replace the media inside. Also, had a little room to the side that I attached the heater to the side of the filter. This allowed me to raise the light that turns on and off out of the water. I read in a few places that mantis kind of flip out on the heaters when they see the light go on and off. So, now it's turned away from the tank to the side and out of the water.

Ammonia and Nitrite have been hanging at 0 for the past few days. Nitrate hit 20 and down to 10 after a decent sized water change. Brought over the zoas and they are opening back up pretty well. Also, got a couple hitchhiker crabs that came over with them.

Here's a shot of the subcurrent in the tank.

I had to move the big rock to the other side but really like how it's setup now.

The tip top is just sticking out of the water.

if you feel like some modding, you can hook a chaeto box on the front of the subcurrent in front of the baffles so the water runs through it before hitting the pad.
