Oceanic Tech Build for under a G!

don't really have any experience with loop systems, my pipes would stick there heads in the overflow box slots to snag pods. didn't worry to much about it. the other day one took a ride to the fuge. i 'd try to cover the slots with some kind of plastic mesh. there heads are tiny, kinda like rats , if they stick there heads in, seems like they can get there body in as well

Perhaps some plastic window screening. Gutter Guard (on the durso) would be too large.

Did the pipe in the Acan live? (hope that's not a dumb ?)

QUESTION: what can I do about homemade durso screaming like a flushing toilet?????

I put FW in, good news, NO LEAKS!!!!, but, position of DIY durso was too high and almost overflowed it. I took about 2 inches off after crawling behind my 180 for a better look at the megaflow durso. I also bored out the holes I drilled in above pics.

Now it's getting amazing surface skimming by the overflow box, but the durso is reeeeally gurgling. And since it's in my bedroom......this is very troubling.

CPR aquafuge looking good

FTS, keep in mind, construction in progress. Also BB right now, which accounts for lighting under tank.

ANY help on the durso issue greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Cully

no , pipes dont have scales, think the sting was to much for it. i saw the other pipe bump the acan and it acted like it got shocked.

Durso problem:

I think I've got it!!!

Holes in cap are too big. When I plug one small hole and the large hole, it quiets significantly. Plug all 3 and water level drops and sucking noise returns, coming from holes on sides of T.

If I plug 2 on top and partially plug the 3rd, water level drops a little, but noise is at its quietest.

Solution. New cap, 1 small hole.

Went to bed after 15hrs at the hospital last night. Heard a slow drip drip drip.....Oh no....

The tank had been off all day. Because I didn't glue the overflow durso into the bulkhead (to allow for adjustments) it slowly emptied the overflow box into the sump (over a 24hr period).

Had to bolt out of bed and siphon out the sump to keep from flooding my bedroom. Not fun! Not happy!

All's well tonight. Gotta empty it out tomorrow and start putting salt water and LR in it. The project may go on hold because I'm adding some uncured Tonga to it. Gotta let it cycle. I'll take pics when I get it aquascaped.

It's looking good Mark. I'm happy that you figured out the flushing sound. I was going to suggest a single cap on top with a 1/8 hole. That's how I have my refugium plumbed downstairs. Easy peasy... nice and easy.

Finally scored some LR for this pig. Just got done aquascaping with about 35lbs of tonga from Tim at ABC Reefs in SYR. Rediculous pricing. Amazing selection.

Gonna wait til the crud settles, then I'll post pics. Came out great if I do say so my damn self.

(sorry, kinda giving this a bump. It was a b**ch to find the thread)

Comments and criticism's welcome. I wanted something that looked like Millie's 120 @ CF, and wound up with this.....
