Anyone think this low iron glass biz is just a fad? ;) Did I mention mine has three sides? :p

BTW, I'm selling mine if anyone is interested.

Good Luck,

I think the other big difference is the black plastic eurobracing on the tech series vs center-brace on the ultimates. The tech has a black backing but I don't remember if the ultimate has that or not.

It works out my tank will be front view only, so the Starphire glass front will work better for my application. So, what's the difference between the Tech tanks and the Ultimate tanks? Size only?

Speaking of backgrounds, I prefer the black. What does everyone recommend for making the backgrounds? Paint? The film they sell at the store? Any other ideas? I think the Ultimate comes with NO background - wish it did come w/ black.

I would use spray paint. The differences are no center brace, black back round and silicon, and center over flow.

Also a crappy wobbly stand for the techs.

Yep, I used spray paint for my current tank and really liked the results. So, the tech's have black silicon and the Ultimate has clear? I'm getting a 178RR, so I'm guessing two overflows on the sides of the back pane, not in the corners.

Maybe this next part is for the "Lighting" threads, but...here we go anyways - so, the 178RR is 60". I will need MH w/ actinics. I currently have a 24" Current USA Orbit fixture that has everything. The 60" equivalent is approx. $1000. What can I do for my lighting needs? I will have a canopy, so I don't NEED to go with a single fixture. Does that center brace cause any issues...like getting too hot or melting if a MH is right over it? Thoughts...?

The center brace on that tank will be glass, so it wont melt. I would do retro fit MH and t5, or all t5, as many you can fit.

Newest owner, just put money down on a 7 month old Tech 90 with stand I am buying from a nice dentist in the area. Anyone want to guess what I paid for tank, stand, and plumbing (and sand)? Oh and there isn't a scratch on it.

THATS HOT!!!

I think if you had made the circle smaller, maybe more of a rectangular shape, and made it at a slant to look like 2 steps it would be sweet and easier to attach/sit corals on.
