My advice regarding incorporation is simple, hire an accountant.

Sorry. I don't check in here very often. I agree with Steve. Get an accountant and/or attorney. Better yet, find them within your membership.

Not much to add, except to carefully consider the type of filing status you wish to have. FWIW, I would not try to pursue the elusive 501(c)-3. It has the advantage of making donations to the club tax deductible for the donor, but it not only is it tough to get, it requires a lot of tedious paperwork to maintain.

Thanks guys, for now we've decided against going for it, the cost of an attorney/accountant makes it not worth it right now. I filed for a new EIN, and started the banking and books from scratch, and will just archive the past and go from there.
