no doubt.

The staleness of the air is disturbing. No breeze and extremely damp air.

The mosquitos are in the house now and I already have a few huge bumps.

One of the problems with air this hot and wet is that my girls won't go to sleep. Humans just need it to cool down at night, and when it doesn't its very hard to sleep.

Josh

THIS is the best 30 bucks I've spent all summer! I purchased one a month ago when a friend recommended it to me. It actually works well. It's for those hot nights. Get'em for your girls so they can fall asleep.

Some of my most vivid memories of childhood are laying in bed stuck to the sheets all night every night of the summer in oppressive Virginia heat and humidity. It doesn't cool down at night there. I may complain now when it only gets to ~72F at night here, but at least you can sleep in that.

Imagine 85-90F every *night* in 100% humidity. Ugh!

I forgot to plug in my sump fan night before last and my tank got up to 82.5 yesterday. I pulled it down about a degree and a half over night, but it's up to 82F again here at midnght, and the AC still running. It's 85F now in Orange, and I suppose I will leave that noisy fan in the door on all night to help get some fresh and cool air in the house. If the tank doesn't drop below 80F tonight, I will shut off the lights tomorrow. I don't want to do it; pH is already way too low from so many days in a row with the house shut up during the day.

Brace yourselves; it's going to be a scorcher tomorrow, too.

I think I have already fed every mosquito in the neighborhood -- I haven't seen any in days. We had fewer mosquitos when I had a pond; the mosquitos everywhere around would lay their eggs in the pond and the goldfish would eat the larvae. At least for some reason the mosquito bites don't seem to itch too much this year; last year the bites were awful.

Today, my pepper plants fried beyond repair. *sigh* And I was just about to pick fruit. By the time I saw it was too late to throw up any shade or anything. The 'maters and cantelope are happy as they can be though.

Same in Jalisco, Mexico. Its disgusting hot there. Except it rains as at night but that just makes it harder to breathe man....

I hope we get no more power outages or Im gonna loose it.

Yeah, but it's kind of like Phoenix or Vegas -- 100F at night *is* cooling down, by 15-20 degrees or so. Jalisco is probably the same - hot at night, but worse in the day.

I knew when my dog and cat flat out DUMPED their coats in May it was going to be a hot summer, but this is ridiculous! I love the dry heat of So Cal, and I'm unhappy. I've never seen Angus with such a thin coat; I can actually pull his hair apart and see his skin. Those of you who have seen Angus will laugh, but he's practically nekked this summer. (Belgian Groenendael, for those who haven't seen him.)

we have a long hair German shep. took him down a week ago and clipped him down, sppp happy I did, and he dries faster from swimming in the pond, but it's so dammm hot, non of the dogs will even go in!!!!!! and the koi are trying to jump out!!!!!OK we have 4 dogs, now everbody knows LOL:D

AND I CAN'T BELEAVE WHERE STILL UP WATCHING SNL, I haven't tried to peal my body off the leather couch. I think it will hurt when I do

coralkat,

It's ok! we have 3 dogs! The heat is making them lazy and not want to play. Good thing for me cause I don't want to move unless I really have to with these temps.

yup, funny to watch them, and they try to find anyplace cool, Well whife said it's time to try and sleep, damm, she went up and forgot to give me the spachela, to de,peel myself off this damm couch, Good Night all,,, Well Good Morning I ment,,,,,tomorrow, arrrrrrg a repeat of today :) OUCH!!!!!!!!!

We turned on the AC for the first time today when it hit 89 inside the house. Usually we get a nice breeze that keep it below 83 or so with the doors and windows open. Still no breeze!

It's not good to clip/shave long haired dogs. Their coat insulates them from the heat as well as the cold. I didn't believe it as first, but it makes sense since they don't sweat.

Before I knew this, I buzzed angus down one year and he was SO miserable that year.

If you have hot dogs and no AC, hose 'em down, all the way to the skin.

It's kind of overcast this morning and tons of thunder rumbling. As someone else said, if this weren't So Cal I'd be battening down the hatches for a tornado. Eerie.

Another Extreme Heat Advisory for today:

Extremely hot weather will return this afternoon. Even though it
will not be quite as hot today... temperature will still reach
dangerous levels.

The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create
a dangerous situation in which heat illnesses are likely. Drink
plenty of fluids... stay in an air-conditioned room... stay out of
the sun... and check up on relatives and neighbors. Never leave
people or pets in enclosed vehicles... even briefly

If there is one good thing out of all of this, it is that I can make salt water faster. My RO/DI filter is running faster since the water supply is warm.

Once it turned 85F in the house we turned on the A/C. We just set it to 82F. I never thought 82 would feel so wonderful :)

Oh yeah, those mats HURT. Sometimes there's nothing to do but cut them all out.

Tons of thunder and lighting and a tiny bit of rain here. Several times the power flickered, but the power is staying on so far.

Wierd weather. And I have to drive to San Clemente today.

Used to go fishing out of San Clemente!!!!!!!! going to be 101 here today, arrrrrrrrrrg

San Clemente was about 90 yesterday...it hardly ever gets as hot as it was, especially at my house on the water. Sure beats a swift kick in the balls or a long stay in Lebanon right now!!

Hot yesterday, Hot and VERY humid today! Having your glasses fog up and blinding you the moment you exit your car is not cool!
