hey, since theres sooo much talk about onyx's, i was wondering, are these a pair onyx clowns? cause the male is only ALL black on the front half. i think they are onyx, but lmk.

It is really hard to tell wether or not they are or are not onyx, sometimes its just a variation of an onyx. I have a female true perc that looks just like your male perc, but its just a variation of a true perc. chances are that if you bought it as a true perc, its probably a true perc.
onyx is just a coined phrase to market clowns with more black in them. They aren't a breed of fish, just clownfish (percs) from Solmon Isle from what i've seen, and some have more black then others.
The standard definition for onyx is that black connects the white stripes. It doesn't have to fill the space between the white completely (although that is the most desirable), but it must at least bridge the white stripes both front and back.
So, your female is onyx and your male is not. IMO, your male is actually the nicer fish because his black is so crisp.
