OT - Snowmageddon

They were calling it Charlotte on WFSB. The National Weather Service doesn't name winter storms, AFAIK, the names come from local stations.

Jeff, what it is with you and conferences and snow storms?!! Good luck everybody! I have a generator so if you are nearby and need a place to keep some precious frags, I have room

I say this every year and I'm gonna say it again "I WINTER IN NEW ENGLAND". On that note my generator is gassed up and I have an extra 10 gallons of gas ready to pour, lol. I really hate the cold and especially the snow, mostly because it makes my job REALLY suck. Never seeing snow again would make me happy

Just throwing this out there- If anyone losses power and needs assistance please let me know. I've got a portable generator, ~10 gallons of fuel, battery powered air pump, plenty of D batteries, heat packs, etc I can loan out.

My vehicle is four wheel drive and I'll help anyone out I can regardless of where you are. Phone number is posted in my profile. Best bet is to text or call.

One of the computer models has our area getting over 80" of snow. I hope that one is overzealous. Test ran the generator and the tractor/snowblower combo this afternoon. Gassed up the car and the extra cans. I hope I'm ready.

80"???? That's almost 7 feet. Where the hell do you live Canada? I'm gonna be ****ed if we get a foot of snow let alone more than that

New models shaping this storm up to be one for the record books. Most of the state is in blizzard watch all the way up to Boston. Don't take this lightly, and start preparing today.

I'm ready. If the snow does come down as much as they say it will. Time to crack out the old igloo building tools!

Basically we are attached to another object by an inclined plane, wrapped helically around an axis.

Heading out to pick up some last minute things this morning and then getting ready.

Keith

I'll probably go fill up another 5 gallon gas can, but overall I'm not terribly worried. Snowblower is ready to roll, shovels are nice and sharp, and the roads will be plowed by the next day as usual. :)

Bold prediction --- less that 6 inch of snow (well at least for Old Lyme)

Weathermen love drama!

That is a HUGE bold prediction since they have us listed in the 1-2 foot range!!!!

Man I hope you are right, but unfortunately at this point it really doesn't seem that way.

We have a generator but last week I purchased the new driver for my Vortech MP40 and I bought the battery backup for short outages. I was surprised when I got it. It's basically just a small car battery that's all fancied up. I don't know what I was expecting but it's a lot bigger than what I imagined. I'm praying no outages. It's such a PITA when the power goes out.....

That was a huge mistake. The grocery store was a mob scene tonight!! I got out of work late so I didn't have much of a choice. I think so folks forget we live in New England and a Nor Easter isn't the end of the world....

Waiting on a coral order to be delivered then its tank maintenance time! Some new movies and games for kids so they don't bother me!

no one should take power outage, and over a foot of snow lightly. everyone stay safe, BC you have to keep your reef safe..lol but seriously unprepared people are the first to call for help.. everyone be safe, and be ready
