Peeping Banggai Fry

Mixing? please elaborate. You have about 6 or 8 bags of different pellet sizes, right? I was told to feed the pellets according to the size of the fry and what they can fit into their mouths. But maybe you have something different.

I think I have the same thing, I just didn't know if you mix a certain amount of the product in water, then feed the babies.

So we just take some of the pellets and sprinkle it in the water??????
Thats it??? :fun5:
Wow I really had no idea it was so simple..... :lmao:

This morning we introduced Otohime to the fry, we mix it with cyclopeeze and frozen rots.
At first they were not so sure of the new flavor, but they were taking bites!
Hopefully we will have them weaned off the enriched bbs soon.

nice

why dont you try feeding them shredded mysis shrimp? I myself start weaning them off BBS by the 3rd or 4th week and so far that has worked for the 1st 2 batches of fry i had. I feed them some of my homemade DIY food which i shave into small pieces so it will fit in their mouths.

I tried feeding the fry a few "dust" pieces of mysis shrimp. I must not have chopped it up enough. I will try tomorrow and see what happens....

What is in you DIY food???

I see. Good luck.

My DIY food contains frozen shrimp, phytoplankton, marine snow, pellets, flakes, cyclopeeze, amino acids, and Hufa.

Today I chopped up the mysis shrimp, they did not eat it, it was too big, so I had to clean the nurseries out and start over. Their mouth's are tiny I had to chop it into almost a mush!
So we made some "mush" cyclopeeze, frozen rots, selcon, and otohmine. At first they were not so sure of their new food. But I found if it floats, they will eat it.
Not so sure if I'm feeding them correctly at this point, but, I could see their tummies turning the orange/red so I guess they were getting something out of their new "mush".

Oh, the eggs did not make it, :( they all turned white :(

Well as long as they have round bellies i think they will be fine.

As for the eggs, its pretty difficult to incubate eggs in a tumbler. Although ive never tried to do that, i think letting the male hold on to the eggs is still best.

Its like the saying...Breast milk is still best for babies. Or in this case, Dads mouth is still best for babies. hahah!

Our babies are 3 weeks old now, we still have 22 out of 23 :celeb3:

Today I introduced shaved frozen mini mysis shrimp.....
These babies have eaten everything we introduced except the Otohime :spin3:

They babies are getting so BIG! We still have them in the "nursery" tank.... It is much easier to feed them in the nursery.
We have not notice any fighting yet! But I am sure it will happen.

We finished the stands for the (2) 40g breeder tanks, the pump & plumbing will be here Monday.

I have not had enough time to organize this space yet, but the plan is to have a station on the lower shelf for hatching BBS, a small 3g tank for the bbs and green water station.

I am planning on putting a divider in one of the tanks for the babies to grow out, with plenty of hiding spaces.

We still have not captured the 2 females :( I am worried if we wait much longer, the will not like each other and fight when we reintroduce them.

Any suggestions?????

Nice one edandsandy! Congrats on your success!

My suggestion for your females when you reintroduce them is to just put them in a breeder box in the tank where your males are so they wont be stressed out. That way, they can adjust to the new conditions of your breeder tank before you release them in the tank with the males.

Here are some updated pics i took this morning. These are the remaining fry which will go to their new homes hopefully by this week. The others were already taken by their new owners these past few days.
