Picasso Clown Getting Darker

My Picasso is tank raised. I picked her up on May 16th. Back then it was a he but has become dominant over her partner. Her color behind the white bar on the head was orange and has turned black several weeks ago. Also, notice the black dots on the tail that weren't there before. I think the contributing factors are diet and maturation but I also wouldn't rule out the host anemone playing a role. The clowns are hosted by a Gig. First picture was taken at a fish store right before they bagged her for me. Other two were taken yesterday.

this looks pretty typical to me, they don't show a lot of black coloring until they start maturing and it can be a big change in just a short amount of time my Picasso has done the same thing but I like yours a little better than my Picasso, great looking fish

Thanks for your compliment. The rate at which the clown became darker is what I found freakishly interesting...only about a two month frame.

Yea mine darkened up over about 2-3 months.

Reef Tanks/proper lighting have some type of effect with clowns where the black pigmentation really starts to come through and show. I'm not sure anyone truly understand the reasoning behind it. The darkening of the tail is typically seen in a mature clownfish. Gorgeous clownfish

Yes they normally become darker w/ age, some faster than others.
