I have just gotten my mated pair of picasso clowns, after six months of waiting! just had to share, nobody in Auburn i'm around knows anything about reef tanks. I've got pics but am not sure how to get them posted. They're in a elos system 70 w/ 2 e-lites, thanks jesse!

Thats awsome congrats!! I have a single picasso clown which is finally starting to get its black in, I will be getting another clown for her shortly.

The elos systems are great systems. Looking foward to see some pictures. The only way I know how to post pictures are from photobucket so hopefully someone else will chime in and help.

i'll try that then, thanks. and good luck with the new one, hope they pair up. mine have very little black right now, they are very young from ora.

thanks guys.

thanks guys.

i've got a sebae (h. Crispa) coming tues so maybe they'll find a nice home. just had my gbta, male obviously, pollute my cpr nano w/ sperm. Had to do a water change quick the whole tank was white. First time i've ever seen a gbta spawning event, neat, but messy.

The only thing in my elos with the picasso's is a mandarine, pair of red fire shrimp, pair of skunk cleaners, and three peppermints, w assorted zoo's and some st thomas mushrooms. Any suggestions on additional fish? I was thinking about three blue reef chromis and maybe a golden angel at some point. I want to keep it lightly stocked with fish.

the 70 series..

the 70 series..

are 55 gallon cubes. 29.5x 23x 20 with about 12 gal sump, but i'm guessing on the sump size

I never understand why ORA sells these as "mated pairs" when they obviously aren't even old enough to be females yet.

How much does a pair of Picassos go for and where can you get them? I heard you have to be a retailer to order from ORA.

i got mine from..

i got mine from..

coraldoc.com, I'm pretty sure dan still has two pair of grade b's but I waited for these a's. As for cost, i'm embarrassed to say. I guess whatever one is willing to spend is what a fish is "worth" so to speak.

As discussed above I guess the mated pair part is kind of misleading, but these two never leave each others side so i'm pretty sure at some point one will become dominate and who knows which one. Right now both are the same size and temperment.

I was going to suggest a Orchid Dottyback, but since you have a Mandarin Dragonet, you better not put any fish that may compete with them for the live food from the tank. I like yellowhead jawfish. Several of these will make interesting display with your clowns.
