Hi steve i currently have a 65g red sea max 250 with two small 1inch a. ocellaris (don't know the specific clown actual name) with 70lbs of lr and 60lbs of ls. Everything is pretty much stock but will be upgrading the t-5 bulbs to ati (don't know if that really matters with fish discussions). I will eventually like to have a little bit of every type of corals (lps, softies, sps) I was wondering if and in what order i can add these new fish wish list.

Blue Caribbean Tang (Acanthurus coeruleus) and/or Blue Tang (Paracanthurus hepatus) (Small and hopefully we upgrade the tank before it gets big) and/or White Tail Bristletooth Tang (Ctenochaetus flavicauda)
Purple Dottyback (Pseudochromis porphyreus)
Copperband Butterflyfish (Chelmon rostratus) (to control my growing aiptasia problem)
An anthia (can't decide on which)
And a Wrasse (either one in the reef safe category, or the Halichoeres family)

Thank you

I have a 90G reef tank with 1 yellow tang, a flame angel, 3 blue chromis, a Royal Gramma and a six line wrasse. I also have 2 clownfish in my nano I plan on adding once I get a good size coral for them to host. Am I approaching livestock overload on a 90 I would really like to add a couple more fish? I have 150 lbs. of live rock, a sump filter and a protien skimmer.

40 US gallon.
40 lbs live rock.
4 inch sand bed.
A few soft corals and LPS.

Fish list:
Tailspot blenny
Helfrichi firefish
Yellow head jawfish
One or pair of small white-striped maroon clownfish
Red mandarin dragonet (after one year and must eat frOzen food)

We will be happy to provide commentary on a detailed fish list but for a variety of reasons, we do not provide recommendations.

I should have looked down before replying to the previous post, sorry. That list will be fine although the starfish will starve to death.

The only tang possible in this sized tank from your list would be Ctenochaetus flavicauda

Purple Dottyback (Pseudochromis porphyreus) Very aggressive fish
Copperband Butterflyfish (Chelmon rostratus) (to control my growing aiptasia problem) A difficult fish requiring peaceful tank mates (the tang may not allow) which can be difficult to get eating
An anthia (can't decide on which) Carberryi and Resplendant do well
And a Wrasse (either one in the reef safe category, or the Halichoeres family) Be sure your tank is covered

Thank you

The yellow tang will not be happy with any larger type fish or grazer, the sixline wrasse will not be happy with smaller type wrasses. You are not out of capacity but you are not lightly stocked either

Tailspot blenny

One or pair of small white-striped maroon clownfish when they mature they will own the tank
Red mandarin dragonet (after one year and must eat frOzen food) Unfortunately, the odds of success are poor even if they eat frozen

Hi Steve, I've been browsing this thread for a while to get stocking ideas, thanks so much for all the work you put in here. Hopefully all of my reading has lead to a reasonably well thought out plan.

--New Tank Setup--

Display - 110g @ 60"x18"x23"
Remote Sump - 75g @ 48"x18"x21"
Remote Refugium - 75g @ 48"x18"x21"

Fish marked with a * below are in an existing 90g setup that will be migrated to the new tank and torn down at the finish. They will run along side each other briefly, to allow a preferred order of addition to the new system.

--New Tank Livestock, in order of addition--

Firefish (Standard or Purple)
Zebra Barred Dartfish x 3 (Hoping for a shoaling behavior)
Yasha Goby & Randall's Pistol Shrimp pair
Yellow Clown Goby*
Lawnmower Blenny
Flasher Wrasse (McCorsker's or Carpenter's)
Royal Gamma Basslet
Carberryi Anthias
Ocellaris Clowns (Mated Pair)*
Yellow Tang*
Red or Green Mandarin - 9 months after refugium has been established and matured (single or pair?)

CUC form existing tank, slowly migrated: Peppermint Shirmp, Skunk Cleaner Shirmp; Dwarf Ceriths, Nassarius, Florida Seriths, Nerite snails. A few assorted hermits (I know, they came with the tank)

Specific questions, beyond general compatibility:
- Am I over/under/just right stocked?
- Will the Wrasse cause an issue with pod supply for the Mandarins with a 75g refugium?

Thanks in advance,
Justin.

I currently have a purple firefish in my qt waiting to go into the dt. My fish wish list has a flame angel, foxface lo, hi fin red banded goby, clownfish, bicolor blenny, and tiger watchman goby. My question is can I add a yellow tang to this list? I have a 75 gallon FOWLR tank with about 90lbs of live rock.

marginal but add last

I have a 75 gallon FOWLR tank with about 90lbs of live rock.

My stocking plan took a side road recently when a friend broke his tank down and I took some of his stock.
Tank is 125G 60x24x18, 55G sump with refugium, Octopus NW200 skimmer.
I currently have : 2 oscellaris small, 1 small yellow tang, 1 pink spotted goby, 1 tribal blenny, 1 six inch rbta, one 5" toadstool, and several frags.

I want to add 7 more fish for a total of 12. My largest fish at this point is a 3" tribal blenny. 7 fish are
3 blue reef chromis, McCosker wrasse, exquisite fairy wrasse, and 2 black and white oscellaris.
Are 12 fish too many. I want to continue to add lps and soft corals. Will the 2 different color oscellaris pairs live well in the same tank. I got your advise before but things have changed a little and I figured asking again would be safer than making a mistake. Thanks in advance for your reply.

Couple of questions that fit in this section. I have an long-standing 55 gallon swim tank that I am trying to convert over to reef. I have upgraded to reef quality lighting, and have exchanged out lace rock for live rock, and am waiting to see if there is any surge in water quality before going any further. Setup includes a 30 gallon sump with protein skimmer, no refugium yet, although I am trying to figure out how to add one on...

My question is the fish I have now, and if I will need to remove them to start up with corals once I do.

The tank currently has:
3 tank-raised Ocellarius clowns
A pygmy angel fish
1 blue spotted puffer
1 fighting conch
1 turbo snail

I worry most about the blue-spot puffer and corals. He left my cleaner shrimp alone, and doesn't bother the conch or snail, but worry coral might over-tempt him. He is my oldest fish, and quite a personality, that I would be sad to lose to reach for my dream of a reef tank. I'm not sure about the angel, either.

Any thoughts?

12 small fish should be fine

No, they will not. Even much larger tanks will not normally contain more than a pair of clowns peacefully.

I got your advise before but things have changed a little and I figured asking again would be safer than making a mistake. Thanks in advance for your reply.

The tank currently has:
3 tank-raised Ocellarius clowns three will become two
A pygmy angel fish not reef safe
1 blue spotted puffer can be a problem with fish and invertebrates, less so with corals
1 fighting conch
1 turbo snail

I worry most about the blue-spot puffer and corals. He left my cleaner shrimp alone, and doesn't bother the conch or snail, but worry coral might over-tempt him.
