A 55 gallon running a BH2000 skimmer (good for 125 gallons I think), and GFO.
Currently there are
2 Ocellaris Clowns
Midas Blenny
Solar Fairy Wrasse
Royal Gramma
Med sized (4.5") Scopas tank

System can handle bioload fine (nitrates under 1) and growing SPS

Would I be able to replace the scopas tang and royal gramma with a shoal of longspine cardinal fish? maybe 5-8?

Another one...

Another one...

3 Fem Evansi Anthias a bit more difficult feeding Why is that?

1 Male/female Tiger Queen Anthias needs almost continuous feeding Ok... they'r gone

1 Cleaner wrasse not recommended; survival rate is poor and has no value for parasite prevention. Gone

Another question... The Flame Angelfish and Blue Jaw Triggerfish; are they gonna eat my sea stars ? and clams ?

three or four would work as a replacement

They have small mouths and a more active metabolism. Start with nutramar ova but eventually small frozen will work, but feed 3 or more times daily

There is no guarantee but clams will NOT be safe with the trigger, the angel may or may not nip

I'm re-visiting my fish wish list.

29g biocube with about 30lb LR and 20lb live sand... currently the only inhabitants are a few CUC critters and some zoa & ricordea frags.

I'm thinking of the following fish:

African Flameback Angel
Ocellaris Clown mated pair - or possible Black Ocellaris pair - thoughts?
Yellow Clown Goby - can I keep more than one?
Tangaroa Goby

Cleaning crew suggestions

I have a 55g saltwater fish only tank. Currently is has only a lone undulated trigger in it. I'm looking for suggestions from the seasoned crowd on cleaning crew for it. The sand bed is about 1.5" deep.

Hi, i have a 72 bow with 160 lbs liverock, 100 lbs sand, 20 gallon sump/fuge full of chaeto, and a skimmer. 4 54 watt ATI bulbs, 2 aqua blue specials and 2 actinics. I currently have a fair amount of corals, a 4 1/2" sailfin tang, a 3" yellow tang, a 3" blue hippo tang, a 3" coral beauty angel, a 2 1/2" flame angel 2 1 1/2" percula clowns hosted by a rose long tentacled nem, a 4" melanurus wrasse, a 3 1/2" and a 2 1/2" mandarin dragonet. I'm 9 months into it, have a good pod population i the fuge and display tank. My water parameters have been great, but i'm thinking i'm way maxed out on fish. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

Tangaroa Goby

should be fine

This fish is about marine fish compatibility. Best response would be a separate thread in New to the Hobby. However, your trigger will make inverts difficult/impossible. Keeping one is a 55 gallon tank will not work very long.

Hi

Downgraded to a 25g tank.

Have following:
O clownfish
Firefish
Jewel algae blenny

Wishlist:
Royal gramma
Yellowtail damsel

Can I add another 1 or 2 fish to my smaller tank as it stands?

Long term I think blenny will need to go due to smaller tank size, was in a 50g previously, when I do this will I be able to add both fish? I know you don't recommend damsels but am going to give it a go as long as I'm not overstocking.

Thank you!

Bioload is marginal but ok.

Am I over stocked. Definitely dont plan on adding anymore fish...and this time next year should be moving to a 150g or 185g tank. Currently have a 75g mixed reef, 15g sump, and skimmer rated for 120g.

percula clown 1.5"
black percula clown 1"
fire fish 2"
fire fish 2"
pajama cardinal 1.5"
pajama cardinal 1.5"
Starry Blenny 3.5"
Orange Stripe Goby 3.5"
Falco's Hawkfish 2.5"
Cleanner Wrasse 3.5"
Melenarus Wrasse 3.5"
Bicolor Anglel 4"
One Spot Fox face 3"

One or both of the wrasses may be coming out.

It is on the heavy side but if the wrasses come out, it should be about right. However size is less important in measuring bioload than is eating/metabolism issues.

Rule of thumb on salt water is one inch of fish for every 5 gallons. You have approx 33 inches of fish. With your 75g DT and 15g sump, you can only have 18 inches of fish. If I am looking at this right, you may need to cut down your load in half. How are your Ammonia levels like?

Edit: I would take snorvich's response better than mine as I am sorta new to SW myself.

This is an expert thread answered by Reef Central Staff only. We encourage your participation anywhere else but not in this particular thread. Thanks for your cooperation. And for your information, inches of fish as a measure of goodness is irrelevant in salt water.

I am just starting a 265 gallon (7' x 2' W x 3' H) mixed reef tank with a sump, skimmer, and LED lights. This list is just the beginning of my thoughts and would like your input and ones to remove from the list and ones I haven't thought of to add:

2x Diamond watchman Goby or other type of sand sifting Goby (thoughts on other types?)
1x Blue Tang
?x Blue/Green Chromis (your previous posts have made me reconsider a large group, maybe a group of anthias, suggestions type and number)
2x Ocellaris Clownfish (possibly a second pair of the kind that are mostly black witj some orange, have seen a few different names for them, and am not really set on having a second pair, just curious if I could)
1x Six Line Wrasse
1x Yellow Tang
1x White Tail Bristletooth Tang
1x Kole Tang
1x Melanurus Tang
1x Scotter Blenny
1x Cleaner Wrasse (or are cleaner shrimp just as effective?)
1x Chevron Tang

1x Some type of clam
?x Urchin?
?x Starfish?

1x Arrow Crab
1x Emerald Crab
1x Coral Banded Shrimp
1x Pederson Shrimp
?x Peppermint Shrimp
?x Cleaner shrimp

Could you also reccomend the types and number for a cleanup crew.
I composed parts of this list from research on the benefits of certain species, but do not
know enough about how they would work as a group. Could you also recommend which species to add first and which to add last, as I imagine it will take over a year to add them
Thanks

1x Blue Tang If you are thinking hepatus tang, I would discourage this in favor of a different species
?x Blue/Green Chromis (your previous posts have made me reconsider a large group, maybe a group of anthias, suggestions type and number) As a group, anthias work out much better
2x Ocellaris Clownfish (possibly a second pair of the kind that are mostly black witj some orange, have seen a few different names for them, and am not really set on having a second pair, just curious if I could) only one pair of clownfish
1x Six Line Wrasse I would discourage this fish
1x Yellow Tang add absolutely last
1x White Tail Bristletooth Tang
1x Kole Tang
1x Melanurus Tang I never heard of this or did you mean wrasse? If so, shrimp are on the menu
1x Scotter Blenny these are actually dragonets; wait until the tank is mature
1x Cleaner Wrasse (or are cleaner shrimp just as effective?) neither prevent or cure parasites; anthias love cleaner shrimp
1x Chevron Tang

1x Some type of clam
?x Urchin?
?x Starfish?

1x Arrow Crab can take fish
1x Emerald Crab can take fish
1x Coral Banded Shrimp can take fish
1x Pederson Shrimp
?x Peppermint Shrimp
?x Cleaner shrimp
