tank has cycled and i have a small cuc in. i am thinking of putting in a tailspot blenny and some type of firefish as my first fish. i was also wondering if these 2 fish needed to be quarantined? thanks oh i have approx 75 lbs of of pukani and reef rock, no live rock , and approx 2-3" of tropic eden sand.

I recommend all fish be quarantined irrespective of source. See my blog for best in class quarantine and introduction protocol.

36 Gallon bow front, built in filter, live rock flow, and fug w/ 5in sand bed and macro, 20lbs live rock 15lbs base rock, CUC, 40lbs live sand (probably 2 1/2 to 3 in)

Fish
2X yellow assessor
1 clown or watchmen goby

In a few months
lawn mower blenny, I would live an algae eating blenny with a lot of personality..

Thank you so much!

29 gallon no sump. 30lbs LR, 40lbs LS. Bi-weekly water changes

Currently have:
1X Misbar Clown

Would like to add:
1X yellow clown goby or watchman goby
1X blue reef chromis
1X Dwarf Flame Angel

180G Standard 6'x2'x2' with sump/fuge
My wishlist is: (will be added in approximate order)
1 x Helfrichi Firefish (Nemateleotis Helfrichi)
5 x Blue Reef Chromis (Chromis Cyaneus)
1 x Royal Gramma (Gramma Loreto)
1 x Midas Blenny (Ecsenius Midas)
1 x Lawnmower Blenny (Salarias Fasciatus)
2 x Fancy Clownfish (unsure of species at the moment)
1 x Sunburst Anthias (Serranocirrhitus Latus)
1 x Mystery Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus Ocellatus)
1 x Flame Angel (Centropyge Loriculus)
1 x Yellow Eye Kole Tang (Ctenochaetus Strigosus)
1 x Blue Carribean Tang (Acanthuras Coeruleus)
1 x Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma Desjardini)
1 x Green Mandarin (Synchiropus Splendidas)

Mandarin would not be added for 10-12 months to grow pod population.
Any suggestions on changing the order? Or my wishlist for that matter...it's definitely not written in stone as I haven't even bought the tank yet.

Thanks

1 x Midas Blenny (Ecsenius Midas)
1 x Lawnmower Blenny (Salarias Fasciatus) two blennies will be a problem as they do not like each other
2 x Fancy Clownfish (unsure of species at the moment)
1 x Sunburst Anthias (Serranocirrhitus Latus)
1 x Mystery Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus Ocellatus) aggressive and not recommended
1 x Flame Angel (Centropyge Loriculus)
1 x Yellow Eye Kole Tang (Ctenochaetus Strigosus)
1 x Blue Carribean Tang (Acanthuras Coeruleus)
1 x Sailfin Tang (Zebrasoma Desjardini) three tangs will be pushing it, this one gets large

Thanks for all that you do to support the hobby and keep newbies like myself pointed in the right direction. Reading through the many pages of this thread is a tremendous learning tool.

Here's my list for a 210 (7x2x2) with a 70 gallon sump:

1 Firefish (will add first)
1 Starry Blenny
1 Yellow Watchman Goby
1 Longnose Hawkfish (which means shrimp are in trouble)
3 Ignitus Anthias
2 Barlett Anthias
5 Black Axil Chromis (probably will end with 1 or 2)
2 True Percula Clownfish (Tank bred)
2 Bengaii Cardinals (M&F)
1 Royal Gramma
1 McCosker's Flasher Wrasse
1 Red Velvet Fairy Wrasse
1 Green Mandarin (in 9-12 months)
1 Flame Angelfish (realizing this is not reef-safe)
1 Yellow Tang
1 Powder Blue Tang

Do you see any major conflicts? I have a QT station all set up as I realize tangs have their issues. Thanks again.

3 Ignitus Anthias This is being really picky but I would suggest all five anthias be Ignitus.

Pretty good list, see minor comments

brighten up my FOWLR

brighten up my FOWLR

I am wanting to revamp my FOWLR, after losing a couple fish. I have just a green spotted puffer, three baby mangroves, some nerites, and about 40lbs LR in a 29 gallon. when my filter broke down, i put in a fluval 105 canister filter, specified for 25g, just because it was on hand.

I want hardier species because i'm not great on water changes. flame hawkfish, triggers, and dwarf lions appeal to me. thoughts?

Also, I have a 20 reef that has been in a happy homeostasis for 2 years with 2 misbar clowns, and geometric hawkfish, and a royal gamma. could I add a flame angel, a really little one?

This fish requires a larger tank so adding additional fish is undesirable

Triggers and any type lion are not appropriate to your tank size

This tank is also over stocked. Sorry.

Well, if it were me, I would watch for one of the incredibly colored flame angels. Simply amazing coloration.
Snorvich, you mentioned a flame angle addition on one of these threads, I also wanted one but was worried about what they may do to my soft corals? how are they to reefs in general?
Thanks,
Jeff

I just found out one of my rocks is covered in Aiptasia and a couple are on another rock. My friend told me they were tube worms *sigh*. So, I was thinking of getting a peppermint shrimp to try and take care of this Aiptasia problem. I have a 14g Biocube. Will one Peppermint shrimp be enough?

Current Setup:
2 False Percula Clowns
1 Sand Sifting Starfish
2 very tiny sized limpets (just recently appeared and don't care for too much)

Wish list right now:
1 Peppermint Shrimp

Hi Steve.

I currently have the following stock in my 90g tank + 35g sump (90lbs live rock):

2 clowns
3 bangaii cardinals
3 firefish

Can I add 2 yellow prawn gobies (M+F pair)? Can they be put in a QT without any live sand, just bare bottom? I have a couple of PVC pipes for them to hide in. Is it also necessary to get a pistol shrimp to go with the gobies? I have 2 red blood shrimps already and I'm not sure if they would get along?

Finally, I want to add a yellow tang (as my last fish). Let's say, that a few years down the road, if I want to replace a fish casualty, by having the yellow tang already in the DT, would that prevent me from adding any more fishes?

Thanks

Risky to LPS corals, especially meaty ones. Zoanthids would be a problem.

Well, this thread is about marine fish compatibility; however, be sure you have a true peppermint shrimp, but even then it may or may not eat your aiptasia.

only if a M+F pair

no problem with pistol shrimps and blood shrimps

yellow tangs are aggressive and depending on what fish, may give your new comer a problem

Thanks

Hello! I have a 29g biocube and planning to get a pair of true percula clown fish. And I have a six lined wrasse. Is it ok to mix them?
