I have a 32 g FOWLR. I have only 1 cinnamon clown and a few hermit crabs.

Would there be any problem adding 1 or 2 clown fishes (may be different type of clown fish).

I also like to add a cleaner shrimps and my be a couple of small fish like benny and goby. Any suggestions?

thanks

Generally, mixing clownfish species, especially in a small tank is not a good idea. You can pair your existing clown is doable as long as the added fish is smaller or both are small.

Hello!

I have a 30 gallon DT with ~40lbs of liverock, 2x Nano 425, and 1-2" sandbed. 10 gallon sump will have skimmer and possibly chaeto. DIY led lights for DT.

I was thinking of this stock list in order after I add a small CUC:

1) Royal Gramma or Purple Pseudochromis

2) Black Oscellaris

3) Yellow Clown Goby or Yellow Watchman Goby and pistol shrimp

I've read the purple pseudos can get aggressive. I have plenty of caves and rockwork if that helps.

Royal Gramma is preferred over pseudochromis except P. fridmani, the orchid dottyback because of aggression

On smallish tanks, aggressive behavior is magnified. The cave would be used by a royal gramma, however.

By the way, I prefer a stocking list rather than just a list of desired fish as there are interaction issues as well

stocking list? not sure i understand the difference

thanks for the input....what would you recommend in terms of a colorful schooling type fish that stay relatively small

A stocking list is the fish you hope to keep together in your tank. The list you gave me would not fit in your sized tank if put in together even if they were compatible.

Fish will not really school (or even shoal) in your sized tank.

The Orchid or Fridmani has a dark stripe across it's eye right? I'm trying to expand my aquarium fish ID horizons, so I think I've only seen the Purple in the LFS around me. Looks like a pink hilighter with fins.

Hi

- 2 T12 Super Actinic VHO's (1 ballast)
- 2 Koralia Evolution 1400's
- Mag 12
- Coralife Skimmer 125
- 2 250w Heaters

Here is a list of the fish we want:
- Yellow Tang (1)
- Ocellaris Clownfish (2)
- Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp (2)

Well, look at this. Pseudochromis, otherwise known as dottybacks are generally hyper aggressive. This one is less so but not passive.

- Blue Hippo Tang (1)?? This one is a swimmer and needs a long tank larger than what you have as it quickly grows to about 1 foot in length. It is also highly susceptible to cryptocaryon irritans (marine ich). As such, not recommended

Any other suggestions would be great! Thanks!

Otherwise, fine. Think smaller fish with interesting behaviors.

:D Hehe. You're gonna get yelled at about the Hippo tang - most believe that they shouldn't be housed in an aquarium of less than 240 gallons - or, more specifically, less than 8 feet long.

I, myself, am wondering if one could safely be housed in a 180 (72x24x22), if the remainder of the livestock was kept relatively sparse...

Thanks for the advice Steve!! I appreciate it :fish1:

Here is what I have:
29 gallon biocube, 15 lbs live rock, bioball filter, biocube skimmer
1 watchman goby
1 pistol shrimp
1 ocellaris clownfish

Here is what I would like:
1 yellow chromis
1 more ocellaris clownfish

Will the yellow chromis be as aggressive as other damselfish?

The primary source of aggression will be the clownfish once sexually mature. The chromis will be less of a problem.

Hello, I am back after deciding that I didn't want to go with a 40 breeder because of cost issues. My brother is upgrading his QT tank from the 12 gallon eclipse to a 46 so I thought that I would take it. He also thought that I would like his hermit crabs, which I would they are so fun to watch! I will get between 10 and 20 lbs of LR that is left over from my brother's aquascaping and about 2" of sand for the bottom. The filtration will be the stock filter(going to be FOWLR) with a shrimp or three with a CUC.

Here is what I was thinking for fish:
Purple Firefish(Nemateleotris decora)
Hi Fin Red Banded Goby(Stonogobiops nematodes)
White Banded Possum Wrasse(Wetmorella albofasciata)

Over stocked? Will they leave each other alone? Would I be able to keep a cleaner shrimp and pistol shrimp(for the goby) in the tank as well? Thanks in advance!!!!

Fish Questions!

Fish Questions!

Hi there,
Obviously I am new to this hobby and I have some questions about the fish that I am wanting to get. I just wanted an opinion to see if my wants are realistic for my level and for my tank size. I have a 34 gallon tank with about 30-40ish pounds of live rock, a protein skimmer, and I am planning on getting a sump in the next few months. I currently have a blood shrimp, cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, some hermit crabs, 2 turbos and some other snails, and an urchin. The fish that I would like to have are...
2 Picasso clowns
1 of either a melanurus wrasse/african mccoskeri flasher wrasse/ultra red fin flasher wrasse
1 purple firefish goby
1 tribal blenny
1 pink spot shrimp goby
1 purple back pseudochromis

Please let me know what you think. Thanks!!
