You can only have two Bangaai cardinals, a male plus a female. Neither tang really fits your tank.

I know about the tangs. I'm just holding them for a friend since his tank crashed he'll be taking them back in a couple of weeks. So can i put two spotted cardinals with the two Bangaai?

Thanks for all the time that you dedicate to all of us with all the fish questions... I highly appreciate it...

There should be no interaction

You are most welcome; it is always nice to give back a bit to the hobby.

it is a 180 gallon Reef tank with 280lb of live rock a 3 inch sand bed with 2 40gallon breeders as sumps 1 as a fug and one for mechanical filtration.. Measurements 48-36-24. It has a tek 8 bulb t-5, mag 18 return, mp-40, NCA-7 protein skimmer, carbon reactor, phosban reactor, and a 18watt uv sterilizer.
I intend to have zoa, an anemone (RBTA), some SPS, but mainly LPS

Does any one see any problems with the planed stocking list. And I know a Purple Tang normal needs a 5 foot long tank but do to the shape of this tank will he have the swimming room he needs. T rock scape is done as a cove with 6inches clear in the front and both sides.

Probably fine. If you are looking for "groups" anthias are better than cardinals or chromis

I want to have a school of some kind and I am not a fan of the anthias. Is there another captive breed fish that would give that effect.
Thank you snorvich for your comments.

Ok, I have a 50 gallon with a tetratec 500 power filter, coralife 65 super skimmer, 2x T5 HO daylight 12,000K bulbs, 2x T5 HO actinic bulbs somewhere around 30-50 lbs of live rock, 60 lbs of live sand and no sump. My tank has only been set up for around 6 months so it's still pretty young, but my water parimeters have been great and stable for a while. I dose daily with calcium, dKH buffer and iodide, and twice a week with magnesium strontium and boron. My current inhabitants include two oscelleris clowns, two yellowtail damsels, two green chromis, one lawnmower blennie ~30 various hermit crabs, 1 emerald crab, 10 snails, a hairy pincushion urchin and a sand sifting sea star. I'm contemplating getting a White Sebae Anemone, a bulb tip anemone and a dwarf zebra lionfish. I do want this to be a reef tank in the future, so keep in mind that I'd like to populate with various corals, feather duster worms and other anemones etc. I assume the white sebae anemone and the BTA will be fine, so my real question is with the dwarf zebra lionfish. Thanks in advance!

Yes, I know what you are trying to accomplish which is why I suggested anthias. Unfortunately they are pretty much it.

Assuming you do water changes, dosing iodide is not needed

Dwarf lionfish are coral safe but not fish safe

Not even a small dwarf lionfish with same size/larger fish? Do they grow fairly quickly? I don't have a LFS so I order most of my livestock from liveaquaria.com, and the shipping size of thier dwarf lionfish is roughly the same size as my chromis/damsels and a tad smaller than my clowns... a good bit smaller than my blenny. I actually had a lionfish in mind when I began my SW tank, but recently discovered reefs and fell in love. And thank you by the way!

I can only give you my opinion/prediction

Yellow-tail Tamarin Wrasse and a Mandarin - am I correct in thinking that these two would directly compete for food, and it would be a bad, bad idea to have both in even the most mature 75g tank?

If so, is there a significant difference in which one is easier to keep?

Hi, new here I'll be purchasing a 125 gal tank from my experienced friend sometime next year I am interested in keeping a porcupine puffer. The current filter on the tank is rated for 400gal. and is HUGE! he currently only keeps fresh water fish in it. The lighting system has day and night bulbs.

My question, is there anyway to keep my porky with some feather duster worms?

From my research worms don't need an extravagant lighting system and porky's are so slow that i would think the worm to have plenty of time to retract.

I plan on having a 3-4 inch sandbed and about 100#s of Texas holey rock. I'll have to purchase a powerhead and some heaters. I had heard that running several small heaters as opposed to one large one was preferable. SO any recommendations would be MOST appreciated.

EDIT: I will be purchasing a RO/DI system doing the math i think i break even on it in under three months.

Yes, both are copepod eaters and both are considered "expert level" fish. Mandarins are more likely to survive if not cyanide captured. While you cannot maintain either species on supplied food, my mandarins will eat PE mysis and cyclopeeze.

Welcome to reef central!

I do not keep puffers, but my understanding is that they would not eat feather dusters.

Heaters fail, and when they do, it seems to be in the "on" position. Best insurance is a ranco controller or equivalent

RO/DI is a great idea.

currently I have an ocellaris clown, yellow watchman goby and orchid dottyback. I would like to add one more small fish. I was thinking about a blenny, such as a tailspot or midas? or possibly a bangaii cardinal. tank is 28gal.

Tailspot blenny is very popular and personable.
