Thanks again. I will wait on the mandarin until I upgrade.
My pleasure. Check back any time. Great that you are willing to wait on the mandarins and do it right. They are very easy fish in the proper environment, but difficult if trying to finesse it.

I currently have two Ocellaris Clowns, one Court Jester Goby, one ORA Indigo Dottyback, one ORA Yellow Assessor and one Skunk Cleaner. The Indigo is the tank bully and I am thinking about snatching him out and banishing him to my refugium to sell him, even though he’s the prettiest fish in my tank. Everyone is pretty peaceful and minds their business. The Clowns stick to their side of the tank and the Assessor and Goby are all over when not being harassed by the Indigo. The Goby is my favorite and I love watching him swim all over the bottom of the tank sifting sand and jut wandering. The cute Yellow Assessor is a pretty yellow, but bores me to no end with it’s crazy swimming habits.

I’m looking to diversify my fish collection for my 29 gallon setup. Any recommendations, folks?

This thread is answered by RC staff which at the moment is me. Dottybacks are territorial and may preclude adding additional fish. But at the moment, in my opinion, you are pretty full up. We do not make recommendations on this thread but would be happy to comment on a revised fish list without the dottyback.

Here's my tank....

30 gallon cube with 10 gallon sump/refugium and bioball tower. 20#s of live rock in DT with 1"-2" sand bed and refugium has 2" sand bed with some live rock frags from main rocks after placement.

No fish in the tank yet, but thinking of getting two black damsels, a clown fish, and a small diamond gobi. Maybe a yellow tang? I think my tank should be able to handle it?

Friend got me into the hobby and is helping me get the tank set up and running. So far, its been a blast!

No Yellow Tangs in a 30 gallon tank. There's a sticky that talks about recommended tank size (and length) for different tangs. I'm afraid you're not even close to the minimum.

Ah, okay I'll keep that one for a bigger tank if I ever start one. Was thinking to keep the tank with small fish. I know clowns and damsels you can get small and keep them that size.

Is it really hard to add fish after you place damsels in the tank as well?

Updated fish list for a 65g with 15g sump. I'm targeting a fairly peaceful tank.

- 2 Ocellaris
- 1 Blue-Green Chromis -OR- 1 Black Axil Chromis (given up on idea of multiple Chromis)
- 3 Pajama Cardinal -OR- 3 Zebra Barred Dartfish (hoping for shoaling)
- 1 Banggai Cardinal
- 1 Diamond Bar Goby
- 1 Firefish

Long term (1 year?)
- 1 Longfin Bannerfish (eventual centerpiece)
- 1 Mandarinfish (planning on refugium)

questions:
- Can I put more than 3 of the Pajama Cardinal or Zebra Barred Dartfish? I'm looking for shoaling behavior, but not sure how many I should expect to live together peacefully. I would consider up to 5 if they won't get territorial.
- Best order of introduction? I'm starting my quarantine tank soon, so I need to work out my plan.

Thanks once again for your input!

damsels make sure your last fish to go in there little territorial

In a small tank, it is important to minimize aggression since natural territories in your tank will be small. Damsels are aggressive, clownfish, which are damsels will be aggressive and any tank requires a minimum of 75 gallons and for some species considerably more.

Actually, it will be impossible.

Black Axil chromis is gorgeous, multiple chromis will not work
- 3 Pajama Cardinal -OR- 3 Zebra Barred Dartfish (hoping for shoaling)

I think you would be MUCH happier with the dartfish.
- 1 Banggai Cardinal
- 1 Diamond Bar Goby
- 1 Firefish Be sure to introduce this fish first for best results

Long term (1 year?)
- 1 Longfin Bannerfish (eventual centerpiece)
- 1 Mandarinfish (planning on refugium)

Generally, I think this would be fine with suggestions above

I would consider up to 5 if they won't get territorial. Well you will not really get shoaling behavior in your sized tank, unfortunately.
- Best order of introduction? I'm starting my quarantine tank soon, so I need to work out my plan. firefish first, mandarin last after refugium is operation and atd least 7-8 months

Thanks once again for your input!

Ok, so I have a 55 gal set up with a DSB about 65lbs of live rock and about 20 different types of assorted mushrooms. I've got some mexican turbo, astrea nassarius snails, and my fighting conch.

I want to add some a couple fish to the tank and I am wondering which ones I should avoid? Would any fish work well with mushrooms or possibly be beneficial such as a fish that eats bad worms, or a fish that eats bubble algae ? I am trying to have this tanks primary focus is to be a mushroom jungle. Any suggestions would be much appriciated.

If the focus of your tank is to be a mushroom jungle, the most obvious fish would be one that eats flatworms. The best fish for this would be a sixline wrasse which is a fish I NEVER recommend because they are aggressive and preclude most other fish. You could also have a dwarf angel.

Would you mind if I pm'd you or you pm'd me if it is okay? I just want some fish recommendations for 1. my frag tank it is 24 x 20 x 8" and 2. my 75g 48 x 18 x 21 with glass hole overflow and a 75g sump and 3. my RSM 130D.

You looked at my stocking list once before, but I respect your opinion and would appreciate your recommendation on fish for all 3 tanks.

I would prefer some open swimmers that are constantly moving and some bottom dwellers.

I greatly appreciate your advice, thanks!
