Hey snorvich,

Couple questions about the previously approved stock list.

1. Could a clown goby be added in that mix, or will it compete with some of the other fish? Also, if adding this fish works can you tell me where in the order is best? Thanks!

2. Second, could the orange shoulder change be interchanged with a blue regal? Someone after seeing my tank suggested that the blue regal might be better based on the amount of swim area. Thoughts?

Thanks again for all of your help!

What other fish would you suggest in a 20 gal reef setup with a six line?

In this thread I never recommend for a variety of reasons. I am always happy to analyze stocking plans along with tank size. Your six line wrasse will make additions very difficult. A shrimp/goby combination may be tolerated.

Since I cannot go backwards in this thread, and my memory, after doing thousands of these is poor at best, I would need the entire stocking plan and tank size to answer either question intelligently.

Sorry there. I thought I quoted my original post. Howl fully it shows up here, if not I will copy and paste it.

Hey snorvich,

Here I am trying again lol...

Hi there. I appreciate your evaluation of my future purchases. Currently I don't have anything in my tank but a couple snails and hermit crabs. My tank just finished cycling and I am looking forward to adding fish and coral. I'm planning to have a mixed reef with cleaner shrimp, coral banded shrimp, and urchins. I will possible add a clam or two in the future.

My tank set-up is a 210 gallon mid-center overflow eurobraced tank. Dimensions are 60"long x 27"deep x 30"tall.

It is connected to a 30 gallon frag tank and a 30 gallon sump. I'm planning to have a few inches of sand in the refugium with different types of macro algae and mangroves. The DT has a rock wall throughout three sides of the tank and around the overflow. I am using Pink Fiji Sand that increases from 2" to 4" in some areas. On average about 3".

My plan is to add each type of fish with a 4 week period between in this order. Is this order correct and can you give me some insight into the mix and quantity as well.

P. hepatus really needs a longer tank. As they mature, they get aggressive and if properly fed will exceed a foot in length, growing rather quickly. They also tend to be more likely to "pace" in a shorter tank (pacing makes me crazy but you may be more tolerant)

Thanks again for all of your help!

Thanks again for all of the advice. This is my first large build. You said the Orange shoulder tang would be fine. Can you take a look at the picture of my tank and confirm that for me once more. I just like that extra reassurance before investing into the tank. Sorry about that lol...

The tank is 60" with that fun center overflow and a rockwall surround.

Thanks again!

Orange Shoulder tangs do get large (14 inches); as such your tank length is not ideal (Reef Central recommends a six foot tank length minimum). If it were me, I would go with a smaller tang, one of the Ctenochaetus group because of tank length. I tend to "give the benefit of the doubt" towards the Reefer when there is a fish they really want as long as it is feasible at least to some degree.

I can't thank you enough for your expertise. And this group will also do fine with the sailfin tang I assume?
