Hello Guys,

I have a biocube 29, it is stock, except for I took the bio balls out. no water yet but I will get base rock and CC later today. Here is my list in no particular order. Please let me know what ya'll think, and thanks!

1) 2 ocellearis clownfish
2) 1 banggai cardinal
3) 1 Firefish
4) 1 yellowtail damsel
5) 1 Skunk cleaner shrimp
6) 1 electric blue Hermit
7) possible red sea star
8) assort starter coral

P.S. I am more green than seaweed, as this is my very first time with fish, my only experience before this has been watching finding nemo.

Multiple chromis in the vast majority of cases will become one over time.

1) 2 ocellearis clownfish
2) 1 banggai cardinal
3) 1 Firefish
4) 1 yellowtail damsel aggressive; will limit tank mates
5) 1 Skunk cleaner shrimp
6) 1 electric blue Hermit
7) possible red sea star will starve in this sized tank especially with this level of tank maturity
8) assort starter coral

P.S. I am more green than seaweed, as this is my very first time with fish, my only experience before this has been watching finding nemo.

Everyone is green at some point. The plan is fine except as annotated

Should be fine but the tang may harass additions so use an acclimation box.

Im nuvo 40
24” x 20” x 19”

2 Clownfish (ocellaris, 1 plain one i currently have and 1 black striped one once I purchase the 40)
2 Firefish (possibly a pair, not sure on what color yet)
1 Yellow watchman goby ( would be paired with a pistol shrimp, not sure on this guy)
1 Yellow head Jawfish (possible not sure on this one)
1 Mandarin ( would be added when the tank ages and would be trained with pellets or shrimp)

I was looking at the flasher wrasses though and they are recommended for a 50 gallon.
Is it because of the bio load or aggression? Any tips on what order to add stock to this tank? I have had a pico for 5 months now so I am looking for any advice on the 40.

2 Firefish (possibly a pair, not sure on what color yet) only one is likely to survive long term

1 Mandarin ( would be added when the tank ages and would be trained with pellets or shrimp) will not survive in this sized tank

always most aggressive last, most passive first

My new tank, 60 g cube

My new tank, 60 g cube

Just purchased a 60 g cube tank, and wondering what would be good fish choices.
The tank has a good amount of base rock and one big piece of live rock. Filtration is a sump with a small refugum.

Fish that I like are the yellow tang, brown tang, Bengi cardinals, green chromis, red flame dwarf angel, and blue coral angel. Other than that I don't know what good options would be, but I am researching. I am not that big on clownfish since I have a 20 g tall with 2 clownfish already. But I do like the black clownfish.

No tangs would work in this sized tank. The cardinals and chromis are fine. One dwarf angel after the tank is a bit mature. I am sure there are many small fish that would work and would be happy to reanalyze. However, I do not provide recommendations for a variety of reasons.

Alright Steve, I donated the tang to Birch Aquarium. They'll be putting it in their 900G. Couldn't imagine a better outcome for that guy.

Same stock list as before, but a new wish list as follows:

Kole tang
Midas blenny
Yellow coris wrasse

Thoughts/ideas appreciated. Thank you.
Fine except I do not think you can keep two blennies in that sized tank.

Moving on from the midas..

Should I be concerned if the yellow coris wrasse is smaller than the melanarus I already have?

Halichoeres wrasses should peacefully coexist; the only concern is inadequate food naturally occurring in the tank

29 Biocube.

2 snowflake clowns
Yellow Watchman
Royal Gramma
Flame Angel (Some say yes, some say no. LFS says yes, most people I trust say dont. On the fence)

The LFS says yes because they are selling them. The remainder of the plan is fine, the flame angel is not.

It is a behavioral/ecological niche thing rather than a numbers thing. A small fish that is behaviorally compatible (e.g. a possum wrasse) would work fine.

Sorry to :deadhorse:

I appreciate all your advice. What other fish, aside from the possum, would you consider compatible?

the horse is still alive, so no worries. :) However I do not provide recommendations for a variety of reasons. Always glad to reanalyze stocking plans provided tank size is also provided.

Emerald Crabs

Emerald Crabs

Hermit crabs kill snails for their shells. So you would eventually be providing expensive meals for the hermits.

LFS recommended Emerald Crabs as part of initial Clean-up Crew. I've seen others post here that they do not like crabs in reef tanks. Thoughts?
