60 gallon cube tank, 24 inch's square

60 gallon cube tank, 24 inch's square

Can I keep 3-5 Kaudem's Cardinal fish in this tank with a coral beauty angelfish?

Here's what I am thinking. I have no fish yet so I'm also wondering what the best order of adding these fish are. I also have no idea what my max bio load should be so if this is too many then can you please suggest which ones to remove based on care level? Like if I have to take away any I'd rather take away the hard ones.

2 Banggai Cardinalfish tank raised preferable
3 Blue Green Chromis will become one over time
2 Percula Clownfish juveniles preferred
1 Flame Angel
1 Sixline Wrasse aggressive, avoid
1 Mandarin Goby after nine months with no sixline
1 Bicolor Pseudochromis aggressive, avoid
1 Fox Face Rabbit Fish last
1 Sunburst Anthias (maybe)
1 Cleaner Shrimp
1 Bubble Tip Anenome
Hermit Crabs and Snails (can they go together or is one better than the other? Also, how many of these guys is good?) crabs will kill snails, so pick crabs or snails (snails is probably better choice)
Corals as I go!

My set up...75 gallon with 40# of live sand, 75-100 pounds of live rock (I didn't weigh it to be sure). I have a 55 gallon sump set up with the Herbie Overflow method. A filter sock, skimmer, and phosban reactor. In my refugium area I have chaeto algae growing. I'm still researching lighting and will plan to purchase some soon.

Chromis will become one over time; cardinals will become at most two over time. Leopard wrasse needs a mature tank.

I'm just wondering what you mean by 3 blue green chromis will become 1 over time. Thanks for the response though!

In a group of chromis, the strongest one will kill the rest of them over time. Takes a while, depending on group size, but that is the end result in almost all cases.

I think he means become 1 because they school

No. First they do not school, in the beginning they will shoal but that is somewhat different. In a group of chromis, the strongest one will kill the rest of them over time. Takes a while, depending on group size, but that is the end result in almost all cases.

So is it worth it to even get more than one then?

In my opinion, no. The additional issue with chromis is that they are highly susceptible to uronema marinum so you had best have a quarantine protocol in place. However that issue is well beyond the scope of this thread.

Hi Steve,

24g nano cube, one or two blood orange ocellaris and a yellow clown goby. Wondering if getting small clowns and letting them duke it out to become a pair would be too stressful for them in for the 24g. If so, then one blood orange ocellaris only, but would it then be possible to have 2 or 3 gobies?

Thanks!

Your tank is marginal but ok for a pair of the hybrid clownfish but I would definitely not add other fish. Even though they are somewhat less aggressive than GSM, they will would be intolerant of tank mates once sexually mature.

Do you think three Agile Chromis would get along with the following fish in a 75 gallon reef tank?

Tomini tang
Bicolor blenny
Tanaka pygmy wrasse
Gold assessor
Purple firefish

Innovative marine Nuvo 24
24g. 36" wide. 10" deep 12-13" high (display area.). Sump in back
25+lbs of live rock. Chemi pure blue in filter. Will add cheato soon as well.
475gph return pump

Fish:
2 perc clowns
1 azure damael
1 orange spotted goby with pistol shrimp
Hermit crabs/snails/a cleaner shrimp

Thinking of adding a Banggai Cardinal but I'm not sure if the current bioload is okay or pushing it.
