I don't want to upset the tang police, would a yellow tang thrive in a 110? (5' tank)

This thread is only answered by Reef Central Staff, in this case me. Reef Central Staff do not consider themselves members of "the tang police" which we consider to be a pejorative term; we simply try to advise whether you will achieve long term success which is our objective.

Also, how about a bicolor foxface?

So far I have:

Black Ocellaris
Coral Beauty
2 Cardinals
Yellow Spot Goby

Would like to also add:
Yellow Tang/Bicolor Foxface (??) The foxface is more suitable; the yellow tang will get territorial; two algae grazers (three if you count your coral beauty) are too many for this sized tank.
Vrolik's Wrasse
Ruby Red Scooter (once my pod population increases significantly)--- will a scooter be outcompeted by a vrolik's? Yes. Dragonets do not compete well for for (including copepods) food since they are shy and slow feeders. However, once the tank is mature, Halichoeres wrasses are excellent.

Thankyou!!!

So here goes....

30G biocube, been running for about 2 months now and everything checks out good.

Ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates roughly 20ppm(can't for the life of me get them below that). Salinity is 1.024 - 1.026, temp 80.

Have currently 3 emeral crabs, 1 maroon clown, 3 bumblebee snails, 3 turban snails, 3 red leg hermits, skunk cleaner, 3 small zoa frags, 2 paly frags, and 1 small green hammer coral.

My wife really wants a fire angel, and I know its pretty much a crap shoot on whether they will nip on my corals or not. Just curious as to whether it's worth the shot, or should I not even try?

the limiting factor on your tank is the behavior of the maroon clown fish which will eventually want to control 50 gallons of tank space. A fire angel is a grazing fish that requires a larger tank. Since the tank is of limited size, it greatly increases the probability that a grazer will nip corals.

Hi!
So I'm restocking my 320, or making plans to do so, and my husband has fallen madly in love with a pyramid boxfish/humpback turretfish/whatever you want to call it. I'm also quite smitten.
We would trade in our cleaner shrimps, and understand that snails and hermits aren't an option.
Our other stock includes pink skunk clowns, firefish, a saddleback puffer, potentially a porcupine puffer, African flameback angel,.chromis, some tidepool gobies, foxface, and a brown spotted rabbitfish. The rest were lost in our tank disaster.
The porcupine puffer is optional. He's living in a 20g tank, I'd prefer he lives in my big tank. Lovely healthy specimen that I'm happy to compromise on cuc and small fish to rescue.

10 Gallon tank, 14 LBs LR. hang on bio-wheel filter-filters 150 gallons/hour.

CUC is 4 Astraea snails and and Emerald Crab.

Looking to add:
Orange stripe prawn goby
Pistol shrimp (hopefully pairing with the goby)
Blood shrimp
Sexy shrimp, 2?

other fish considering, not all but 1 or 2 of:
Royal Gramma
Kauderns Cardinal
Purple Firefish

I too like boxfish but they are not easy. The rest of your stocking plan is fairly peaceful so I do not anticipate behavioral issues. As you know inverts won't be safe.

Stocking 120g tank.

Stocking 120g tank.

Hello RC staff. Thanks for this great service, I'm learning a lot from you all.

I am slowly stocking a 120g mixed reef tank. 40g sump/fuge skimmer, deep sand bed, about 1/3 volume live rock, LED lights and power heads. Good parameters though I'm having a little trouble keeping up magnesium. Dosing and I'll get there. Tank has been up about 60 days.

Current inhabitants:
Fish:
Mated pair ocereris clowns (captive bread)
Mandarin dragonet

Inverts:
Red tipped anemone- clowns hosting there.
Cleaner shrimp
Fire shrimp
A few hermits
70 or 80 snails - dwarf cerenths, Florida cerenths, nasers, and nerites- cleaner crew from reefcleaners.com

Corals
Green star polyp
Zoas
Frog spawn
Mushrooms

Desired additions
Cow fish
Goby ( type? Need sand sifter)
Yellow tang
Sapphire damsels
Spot banded butterfly
Christmas wrasse
Hawaiian feather dusters

Thoughts and advice welcome! Thanks in advance.

Current inhabitants:
Fish:
Mated pair ocereris clowns (captive bread)
Mandarin dragonet This fish needs a mature tank and no aggressive copepod competitors. It should not be in a 60 day old tank

Inverts:
Red tipped anemone- clowns hosting there. anemones need mature tanks
Cleaner shrimp
Fire shrimp
A few hermits hermits kill snails for their shells
70 or 80 snails - dwarf cerenths, Florida cerenths, nasers, and nerites- cleaner crew from reefcleaners.com

Corals not really subject of this thread which is only marine fish compatibility
Green star polyp
Zoas
Frog spawn
Mushrooms

Desired additions
Cow fish expert level fish that, depending on species may require a much larger tank
Goby ( type? Need sand sifter) Why? Sand sifters are not really desirable or necessary
Yellow tang should be last fish added
Sapphire damsels
Spot banded butterfly not reef safe
Christmas wrasse not invert safe
Hawaiian feather dusters

Thoughts and advice welcome! Thanks in advance.

What a great service thanks so much!

I have a standard 29g, no sump with 40-50lbs of LR, bare bottom and about 35xflow.

Other than an asterina star I have no tank inhabitants at this time.

While I'd love a gold bar Maroon clown if I got one they would probably need to be the only fish?

So I plan on:
2x tank bred Ocellaris clown fish
1x Royal Gramma
1x skunk cleaner
2x Sexy Anemone Shrimp (Thor amboinensis) - maybe
Some sort of CUC, snails, small hermits, etc. (would add empty shells if I stock any hermits)

Lastly I'd like one more fish and here are a few I think would work but I'm not sure:

Midas blenny
Court Jester/Rainford's goby (would need to be added later once tank is mature)
Kaudern's Cardinal

No plan for corals at this time, that may change in the future.

All are coral safe in your plan

Stocking for a 40G Breeder

This is a FOWLR. Eventually will become a 140G with corals.

Currently have 2 O Clowns and a Starry Blenny. Want to add a Royal Gamma and a Yellow Clown Goby. That will be it until I upgrade. I want to get the two fish at the same time. TTM on 2 - 20L and QT on a 20L. Are these 5 ok in a 40G Breeder and are those 2 ok in QT together (space wise)?

Thanks - Steve

Plan should be fine

65g with 20g sump currently have:

YWG with Randall's shrimp
Mated Percula pair
Firefish
Redspot Cardinalfish
Halichoeres Biocellatus
Linespot Flasher Wrasse
McCoskers Flasher Wrasse

Right now everyone gets along well and my parameters are good.

The LFS has some Paracheilinus Attenuatus and it's tempting to get just one more wrasse is this too much?
