3' 50 gallon tank 9 months maturity.

Current stocking list:
flame angel
goby/tiger pistol
skunk cleaner shimp

They've been in there since the beginning.

Sebae nem - 3 months
Max clam

Just added:

orange skunk
fire fish

Light on corals (natch) - frogspawn, monti, favia (that's not doing well - I have bright lights).

Do I have any room for another addition of a sh? While I wouldn't add anyone soon just wondering if there are any suggestions. Blenny? Another skunk in hopes of pairing? Fairy wrasses seem to need a larger tank. Chromis seem to be big as well. Bangai?

I have vertex 130 skimmer, 1 250 watt Mh, and prolly 600 gph going through sump with Tunze 6095 (currently not running - seems nem doesn't like all the flow).

A Bangaii cardinal will work.

To give you an intelligent analysis, I would need tank size, stocking list/plan and tank maturity.

Apologies, this was a follow up to my original post.

93 cube
future inhabitants:
3 anthias
1 flame angel
1 orange spot goby
2 bangaii cardinals
1 orange spot goby
1 red mandarin or ruby red dragonet
1 kole eye tang
1 additional tang if possible in this setup

Stocking plan is fine but only one tang, the kole tang, in this sized tank. I am not able to go backwards in this thread hence the requirement for total plan and tank size. Thanks.

Not set up currently, but this is my current plan. Just want to make sure systems are go, before I make any equipment/tank purchases after I move.

55 gallon reef with HOB refugium/skimmer, lots of live rock and sand (will be set up for at least 6 months before I add fish, plan to add easy corals {palys, softies, and some LPS like torch) first and make a nice reef for them and establish pods/food)

-1 Pair of Ocellaris/Percula Clownfish
-1 Long Nose Hawkfish
-1 Six Line Wrasse
-2-4 Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp

Stocking Order (after corals are established and growing)
1st- Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
2nd-Long Nose Hawkfish
3rd Clownfish (that way clowns can't pair up and dominate tank as theirs and only theirs)
4th- 6 Line Wrasse (Love these guys, I am aware they can become terrors)

I've read up a lot on the 6 line wrasse and hawkfish, and understand that smaller shrimp and invertebrates will be at risk for being a snack. Though the scarlet cleaner shrimp seem big enough to be okay, and should feel more confident in a group. Plus, any possible eggs/larvae they produce would be good snacks for the fish.

I also know that the 6 line *has* to be the last fish added, and that most likely they will terrorize any new tank mates added after them. I'm 100% okay with getting no new fish after the 6 line wrasse is added, even many years down the line.

Thanks so much Steve! :)

You have too many tangs in that sized tank. I would not add a blue spotted jawfish to that mix. In any case, they need cooler temperatures and a very specific substrate.

Thanks as allways.. Yep with the tangs point but they have been with me a long time so it's a a risk that i am taking.

If you want shrimp, no six line wrasse or long nosed hawkfish

Have a 29 gal. Coralife Biocube. Got heater, Skimmer, circulation, live sand, and live rock. I am just in the setup process. My thoughts are to start with just 2 fish. Looking at a Ocellaris Clown and a Yellow tailed Damsel. Later maybe 2 or 3 additional fish. Also later snails crabs and shrip. Based on this am I on the right track. One other thing I just bought premixed saltwater at Petco. Brand new to all of this so be gentle.

I am always gentle! A damsel will make future tank mates difficult since they are aggressive in small tanks. However, there are lots of well behaved fish to select from. Check out the live aquaria site for ideas. that site will also give you a rough idea of tank size required as well as feeding requirements. I am always happy to analyze stocking plans that include tanks size once you have ideas.

Hi Steve,

I was just reading over a few parts of this thread and am really impressed with how attentive you are to everyone seeking advice. It's quite refreshing.

I'm newish to RC but have had my tank for almost a year now. It's an established tank that I got from a friend who didn't have the space for it anymore. It's close to 6 years old.

Specs are:
55G reef tank
1 Talbots Damsel
1 Firefish Goby
4 Green Chromis
1 Coral Banded Shrimp
Various snails and hermits
Mostly soft corals (toadstool leather, branching hammer coral, ricordia, and a reinvented montipora cap-it was broken in the move. I have placed it all back by itself and it is doing well and starting to create some nice shelfs which the Chromis love to sleep under.)

I would like to add some Zoas to it to bring some color and want to add a few more fish as well.

2 Ocellaris clowns
1 royal gramma

Finally, I'd really love to add a feature fish but haven't found one that would work. I researched the Copper Band Butterfly and Pearlscale Butterfly, but have decided they just won't work in my tank. Same goes with the Coral beauty Angel as it seems to be a crap shoot as to whether or not it will take out my Montipora cap. Do you by any chance have any suggestions or should I try a different thread for that request?

Thanks in advance for your time and help. Have a great weekend!

Red Sea C-Series Max 130
One Koralia 900/240 power head
40 lbs. of live sand (black)
40 lbs. of life rock

All levels have been perfect according to my test and the local FS.

My plan is to increase the size of my CUC over time but not replace any of the RHC.
3 Red Hermit Crabs
4 Nassarius Snail
6 Astrea Snail
2 Cleaner Shrimp

Currently stocked:
1 pair of Ocellaris Clownfish

Future ideas/plans: (more research is needed)
Pearly Jawfish or Pinkbar Goby
1 pair of Banggai Cardinal
Midas Blenny
1 pair of Firefish Goby or Purple Firefish Goby

Corals:
Frogspawn (less than one inch plug)
Green Pipe Organ (less than one inch plug)

Future ideas/plans: (more research is needed)
Feather Duster, Blood Red Discosoma Mushroom, Kryptonite Candy Cane, Red Flowerpot, Eagle Eye Zoanthids, Radioactive Zoanthids, Pom Pom Xenia Coral, Colt Coral, Kenya tree Coral
Etc"¦

For me, my plans continue to changed / developed (by small degrees) as I re-enter this hobby. So any advice and/or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! I have a 30g Fluval Sea, i have 14kg of LR with glass
Bottom and running a Tunze 9004 for just over 7 months. My current stock list are 2 Clowns, Royal Gramma, Regal Damsel, and a CUC of 8x Hermits, 3x Emerald, 6x Trochus Snails and a Tuxedo Urchin

Could you please tell me if I can have anymore fish? Would like a couple more maybe?

I'd really like a Flame Angel but not sure on tank size? And maybe a Neon goby or any other smallish fish such as goby or
Blenny? Obviously one that doesn't need sand bed.

Thankyou in advance :)

Your additions are fine; however for suggestions it would be best to start your own thread as I do not provide suggestions.

Fish stocking plan is fine.

Adding a neon goby is fine; note, however, their life span is only 1.5 years.
