Hey Steve!

I plan on doing a nano mixed reef:

Tank size: Innovative Marine Nuvo Fusion 20

1 ocellaris clownfish (or a pair)
1 royal gramma
1 firefish
1 Tail-spot blenny
1 clown goby

A sexually mature pair of clownfish will want to control about 25 gallons of tank space. If you eliminate any clownfish (a juvenile will become female), the stocking plan would work but with any clownfish, this would be overstocked.

Assortment of hermit crabs, snails, cleaner shrimp, maybe clams/fan worms/starfish/sea urchin later on

Soft corals, zoas, some LPS.
Probably 20 pounds live rock, 1 inch deep caribsea aragalive Fiji pink sand, no skimmer for now, InTank Media Baskets with filter floss, purigen, chemipure.
How's it look? Thanks, this thread is great!

Thanks! So if I had just one clownfish (not a pair), it wouldn't be aggressive towards the others and it would be stocked well? What sequence do you suggest I add the fish and inverts?

No. I said if you had no (none) clownfish, the remainder of your stocking plan would be fine.

Previously, I said: " If you eliminate any clownfish (a juvenile will become female), the stocking plan would work but with any clownfish, this would be overstocked. "

Oh ok. If I want to have an ocellaris clownfish in the system, could I possible remove 1 other fish, such as the clown goby, to be able to keep him? So like this:

1 ocellaris clownfish
1 firefish
1 royal gramma
1 tail spot blenny

Thanks again for your help

Last two fish?

Last two fish?

Two paired clowns (1 snowflake, 1 chocolate), orange-spotted rabbit fish, lawnmower blenny in tank and very happy. Feed nori daily to rabbit fish as well as pellets/mysis, rods original to all depending on the day. Looking for last two fish.
How about a flame angel then yellow tang following month?

No. If you want a pair of clownfish, no other fish. If you want the other fish, no clownfish. Or get a larger tank. It is not a numbers issue, it is a behavior issue.

a rabbit fish requires a much larger tank

Adding additional algae grazers in this sized tank is not a good idea.

I'm looking into getting a Fuzzy Dwarf Lionfish and was wanting to know if I could keep 1 male and 1 female in a 56 gallon column tank. They would be the only fish in the tank. The tank is 30"Lx18"Dx25"H. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim

Questions on aggressive fish would do best in the Aggressive Fish forum since I do not do analysis on aggressive fish. I note that you already did so.

Thanks for looking. I hope to get a response from the Aggressive Fish folks as I certainly don't want to put two fish in a situation where they want to kill each other.

Current Fish
Nash Tang - 1 a naso tang (any species) needs a much larger tank
Yellow Tang - 1 will make additions difficult as it is aggressive once established
Yellow Tail Damsel - 1 aggressive
4 Stripe Damsel - 1 very aggressive
Electric Blue Damsel - 1 aggressive
Fox face - 2 two fox face will not work
Clarkia Clown - 2 (pair) aggressive

New Fish
Powder Blue Tang - 1 will not work with current tank mates
Bicolour Angle - 1
Six Line Tank: 1 aggressive
Yellow Belly Damsel - 1

First, please do not use colors in this thread. I use magenta to easily differentiate answers from questions. You have too many algae grazers already in this tank, so adding more will make your problems worse.

depending on which wrasse, that may work. But I would not add two fish.

Any comment on my list of additions?

Any comment on my list of additions?

Steve,

I have a 90g mixed reef tank (w/40 gallon sump) that is about 4 months old. Up until now I only have coral in it as well as a few cucs, brittle stars, and urchins. I have two peppermint shrimp as well.

I currently have the following in my tank:

Kole Tang
Fire fish
Midas Blenny
Long nose Hawk

I am planning to add the following over the next six months to a year, please comment:

Flame Angel (I know that you do not recommend in a reef, but just want to make sure that the fish won't kill each other)
Fairy Wrasse
Anthias (maybe)
Clownfish (maybe)
Scooter Blenny (long term after 1 year minimum)

Thanks for your insight.

-Jeff

Steve - Do you have any comment on my list of planned additions?

Thanks,

Jeff

Depending on the species of fairy wrasse, that should be fine. The kole tang may chase any added dwarf angel but that should subside over the course of a few days. Always add fish just before lights out.
