Super, that's what I needed to hear.
I'll skip the firefish and only add the clown if the starry settles in well. Maybe by the time the chromis dwindle to one I'll be ready for a skimmer, or a bigger tank. I'd really like anthias if I can upgrade and commit but I'm not there yet. I didn't know about chromis when I got them, lost one last night after I did a big wc to recover from being tank-sat all summer. My bad for changing to fast :( (don't worry, I'm not adding anything for a few weeks, just window shopping)

ocellaris clownfish pair (Amphiprion ocellaris)
possum wrasse (Wetmorella albofasciata)
red velvet fairy wrasse (Cirrhilabrus rubrisquamis)
yellow fin fairy wrasse (Cirrhilabrus flavidorsalis)
mystery wrasse (Pseudocheilinus ocellatus) I would not do a mystery wrasse with the fairy and possum wrasses
Chalk bass x3 (Serranus tortugarum)
Rainford's Goby (Koumansetta rainfordi)
royal gramma (Gramma loreto)
Allen's damsel (Pomacentrus alleni)
orchid dottyback (Pseudochromis fridmani)
two spot bristletooth tang (Ctenochaetus binotatus)
Pacific redstripe hogfish (Bodianus sepiacaudus) may be hard on small fish
Lyretail Anthias (Pseudanthias squamipinnis)
Genicanthus angel pair(G bellus or G caudovittatus) difficult only because males are difficult shippers. You could try two females added concurrently and hope that one turns into a male

The possum wrasse, Genicanthus pair & the tang are the fish I would most like to have in this tank. The others are favorites, but I am really hoping those can work.

Your priority fish should work subject to annotations above

OK. The hogfish can go then. I meant to ask which 1 of the other 3 wrasses could be stocked with the others as I did not think I could have all 4. So you think both of the fairy wrasses could go with the others b/c that would be great if they could. I was thinking maybe only 1 more wrasse. I am glad I forgot to ask.

I have read where Genicanthus angels do better in pairs & I was trying to help them adjust better. If that is not the case, could I get 1 of each female or would that be too much?

Genicanthus females do fine as singles. I would not do two different species females in your sized tank along with the other fish.

Great. Thanks so much. I have enjoyed this thread. I have spent just about every night the past couple of months reading it & trying to learn.

Please see my signature for system specifications.

I want to make my tank mixed reef and peaceful. I have 2 20g-long QT tanks. One for fish, and the other for invertebrate. I am planing on QT all fish for 72 days. I will be adding fishes to the QT then DT in patches or groups. I'd like to have couple of Tangs, couple of Clowns, and 6-10 Anthias. I am planing to add them towards the end.

Here is my first group:

1x Royal Gramma Basslet (Gramma loreto)
2x Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica)
2x Zebra Barred Dartfish (Ptereleotris zebra)
1x Orange Spotted Goby (Amblyeleotris guttata)
1x Six Line Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia)
1x Sailfin/Algae Blenny (Salarias fasciatus)

Any incompatibility with this group? Will they be OK all together in the QT tank?
Any suggestions are much appreciated.

Steve:

Could you please elaborate on why the Six Lines Wrasse is a bad choice? Could you recommend other reef-safe wrasse. I like the Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus carpenteri), but I would like a couple.

Also, is there any chance that the FireFish will mate or at least get along

Thanks,

They are aggressive and will intimidate small fish, of which you have several.

Also, is there any chance that the FireFish will mate or at least get along chances are slim and none

Thanks in advance for your valued time and input...

My question: May I add a lawnmower blenny?

I currently have the first item under fish, the first 7 items under coral, and the first 6 items under inverts -- but the list is my goal. :)

75 gallon DT, 30 gallon sump
40ish pounds of live rock
filter sock
omega vertex 130 skimmer

Fish:

Ocellaris Clownfish x2
Firefish
One Spot Foxface
Red Head Solon Fairy Wrasse
Starcki Damselfish
Mandarin Dragonet (after the tank has been running a year)

Corals:

Pink Zoanthids
Bright Green Palys
Cotton Candy Mushroom Coral
Green Star Polyp
Lunar Eclipse Zoanthids
Pea Pie Palys
Cauliflower Colt Coral
Toadstool Mushroom Leather
Open Brain Coral

Inverts:

Nassarius Snails
Cerith Snails
Nerite Snails
Turbo Snails
Lettuce sea slug
Rose Bubble Tip Anemone
Peppermint shrimp
Skunk cleaner shrimp
Trochus Snails

Hey Steve, this is my setup I would appreciate your input if you could, I am thinking my tank is overstocked. I currently do not have an issue with my tank I have it going for about a year or so, the mandarin was added earlier last week.

29 long using a coralife super skimmer 65 and a fuval 206 filter,

Now in the tank I have:
almost 38 lbs of live rock

4 osc clowns two were given to me about a month or so ago because a friend's tank crashed (they haven't be aggressive to each other although one does look kinda sickly/pale)
1 watchman goby
1 tiger pistol shrimp (paired w goby almost never see them outside their burrow)
1 green mandarin (I have copepods and have been supplimenting them into the tank, I was thinking of using paul b's target feeder he uses with brine shrimp, yes I know live brine aren't really good nutrient unless fed after hatching and it will be a coin toss if the mandarin will even eat them at this time)
1 cleaner shrimp
a mix of nas and ast snails and a few turbos, my pistol has a liking of hunting the snails so I don't have a current count.
1 bubble tip anemone
corals:
1 frogspawn
2 hammer frags
1 3-head dunken
plethora of zoas.

My water tests have been fine skimmer runs 24/7 although I might swap to a 10h on 14h off cycle

I am supposed to be obtaining a 55 gal or another 29 long within a week or two I would like to start cycling as well.

Tank:60 gallon
Sump:12 gallon
Light: xr15
Skimmer: reef octopus 110 SSS
Current fish: 2 snowflake clowns, diamond gobby, firefish
Current coral: large Xenia, well developed zoa, well developed polythoas, frogspawn frag
Current CUC: 3 blue legged hermits, 4 large snails, 4 small hermit crabs.

I messaged reef keepers and they recommended
50 Dwarf Ceriths - small effective cleaners
17 Nassarius
17 Florida Ceriths
14 Assorted Hermits
12 Nerites
10 Medium to large hermit shells
2 Emerald Crabs
1 Chiton and 2 Limpets

In the future I'm considering these fish and cuc
Flame hawk
Mandarin goby(after seeding pods and upgrading sump)
Would like a cleaner shrimp, I have heard good and bad things about them don't know if I need to set up my cuc differently if I have one.

Hi Steve. I'm working on finalizing my stocking list, but wanted to check on one thing first...

75 gallon mixed reef (4ft long)

Current inhabitants:
Seaweed blenny
Pajama cardinal
Pair of Ocellaris clowns

Is a group of 5 Vanderbilt chromis sustainable in this tank? I'm looking for a group of fish that would stay relatively small (these are supposed to stay around 2 in) and act as dither fish for future shy fish. I understand the Vanderbilts are more docile than the other species, but is this just relatively speaking? Will this group eventually become one? If so, I'll scratch them, but I thought I'd check before eliminating this option.

Thanks!

four clown fish will become two clownfish over time

Paul has a mandarin in a 100 gallon mature tank

a mix of nas and ast snails and a few turbos, my pistol has a liking of hunting the snails so I don't have a current count.

IMO, all species of chromis will become one over time
