Ok here my tank:
150 tall 48x24x30, no skimmer, 200lbs rock mostly in sump, 3in sandbed. I try to minimize the rock in the tank to keep it open. Flow is gyre, alternating at random intervals of 1-3 hours. And tank is planned to be an lps and softie tank. Lighting is a 8 bulb tek t5.
Current stock:
4 Mexican turbo snails
4 astreas snails
4 cerith snails
1 Florida fighting conch
10 limpets
1 royal gramma
1 ocillerus clown
1 coral banded shrimp careful, they can take fish
Proposed additions:
1 powder blue tang or a 2 spot bristletooth tang (Ctenochaetus binotatus) or yellow eye tang. I'd like to do 2 tangs if there is a good combo to suggest.
In a longer tank, I would consider two tangs, in a four foot tank only one. Of these either Ctenochaetus would work.
5 Bangii cardinals or 5 blue green chromis (would love opinions on options for a small schooling) Bangaii cardinals do not school and the most you can have is a mated pair of M+F and be sure they are tank raised; chromis will reduce their number to one or at the most two
Thanks for the help!
Hey guys I am new to the community and been lurking for a couple hours now. I have NO experience with salt water tanks other than a few buddies that been giving me pointers. I just bought a 24 Gallon AquaPod with 150 Watt HQI Metal Halide Lighting for $120 in craigslist in which the light was ungraded and also the pump. I have no idea what fish to put. I am looking to add SPS and and other fish also some cleaners. Can you guys give me any suggestions on nice fish and cleaners to buy that will not cause stress on each other?
Hello, I am new to saltwater and have an idea of a tank i would like to run.
My tank is a 220 gallon 72 longX24 deepX32 tall with 3" of live sand and 280 pounds of live rock still setting up. Very excited
I would like to keep
emperor angel
powder blue tang even in this moderately large tank, that is too many large fish and too many tangs.
hippo tang
yellow tang
purple tang
sailfin tang
banana eel
yellow faced eel
mated pair of blue throat triggers or just a male if i am pushing it
soft corals and possibly a couple brains if seem to do fine with Angel
The next few are ideas that seem bad qand thats why i am asking
possibly pair of heniochus butterflys
possibly a grouper
Any feedback would be awsome
29 AGA tank. 25LBS LR, 40lbs LS. No skimmer yet, plan to purchase reef octopus bh 1000.
Current Stock:
1 Misbar Clown
1 Bangaii Cardinal
1 Yellow Coris Wrasse
3 Hermits
1 Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
Would like to add:
1 Flame Angel
1 Blue/Green Chromis
five good sized fish are marginal in this sized tank, either one of the additions will work, however
Thank you for the insight. I realize about compatibility for the aggresive tanks that you cant comment but as for capacity if i drop down to 3 tangs, an emperor angel, one bluethroat would i be able to have an eel or even 2 possibly and are three tangs to much? Overstocking a saltwater tank is a whole differant ball game than in a freshwater tank and i am trying to soak up as much info as i can from you guys. Oh and thank you for the welcome. Like I said before I am very excited.
So shy away from adding both?
Current stock:
1 - purple firefish
1 - bicolor blenny
1 - red head goby
2 - cleaner shrimp
1 - peppermint shrimp
1 - serpent sea star
Would like to get:
1 - tomini tang
1 - tanaka's pygmy wrasse
1 - gold assessor basslet
1 - bertlett's anthias
1 - ignitus anthias
1 - neon dottyback from the red sea
I am a little concerned about the dottyback. My LFS says his are from the Red Sea and are not aggressive. Is there such a type? I read that the neons could go after shrimps and bristle worms. I do have both and would rather not lose any. However, if this type does exist would it be ok with my existing stock?
I have a 80 gallon, it is 1 ft wide, and 5ft long
My current fish are fire goby, blue/green chromis, and midas blenny
I would like to get a royal gramma, 2 clownfish, 1 flasher wrasse, 1 yellow, 1 green, and 1 black clown goby.
Would this be too much bioload? If there is enough room, could I add in some different types of gobies?
