I have a 55 long tank with a fluval 405 canister filter. Regular strip light, protein skimmer, 300 watt heater. Its gonna be a fish only tank for now. My tanks temp now is at about 80-84° without the heater on. Is that to high?

marginally ok. I keep my aquaria at 78F but others allow fluctuation in the range you specified

So what you are saying is.. Just get one? :lol2:

I attempt subtlety with varying degrees of success.

Any recommendations towards good tank mates with the current stock? Maybe I'm wrong but seems like the tank could easily handle a few more.

Your bioload is relatively low. Behavioral issues are more important at this point

Appreciate the input.

Midas Blenny I would recommend against two blennies, they generally do not like each other

Lettuse Nubi
If you get an algae eater, it will compete with the lawnmower blenny

That bioload may be a bit on the high side high.

Hi there,

I currently have:

2x Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica)
1x Scooter Blenny (Synchiropus ocellatus)
1x Six Line Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia) -- currently passive (~1" long)
2x Camel Shrimp (Rhynchocinetes durbanensis)
1x Peppermint Shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni)

Looking to add:
1x McCosker's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri) - male
1x Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse (Wetmorella tanakai)
1x Geometric Pygmy Hawk (Plectranthias inermis)
1x Wheeler's Shrimp Goby (Amblyeleotris wheeleri) to pair with pistol shrimp
1x Hi Fin Red Banded Goby (Stonogobiops nematodes) to pair with pistol shrimp
1x Randall's Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus randalli) to pair with goby
1x Tiger Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus bellulus) to pair with goby
3x Peppermint Shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni)
2x Blood Red Fire Shrimp (Lysmata debelius)
2x Scarlet Skunk Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata amboinensis)

Are there any potential issues and what order should I add the livestock in?

Thanks.

well the number of fish will depend on whats available.... i will probably not get tha goby shrinp pair. i was looking for a wrasse that might (might) take care of my vermatid snails. some say six line wrasse but i hear they can be bullies...

i really like the midas so i am open to suggestions for an algae eater. tangs are out on my size tank...

I would need to understand what environment you have in order to answer the stocking list question.

they can. However I cannot answer your question appropriately since I do not know what is available.

one blenny is fine, two will be a problem

I apologize. I didn't read the first post and provide all the necessary info. I was too eager to get your advice!

~65 gallon tank with a 15 gallon sump with LR and a skimmer rated for 150 gallons with a heavy bioload. No LS or macroalgae in the sump -- yet, just live rock.

Hello!

This is our first try at keeping a saltwater tank and fish care. We have 150 gal tank, 72X19X27. We were given a deal on the tank, stand, light, air pump, power head, most of the plumbing for a minimal cost.

We would like to get good beginner fish, and we do plan to have a fish only tank.

Our favorite fish are below:

1. Trigger (Niger, Indian, Pink tail, and of course more) the trigger is the reason why we have such a large tank :)
2. A large Angel (just not sure which one)
3. Chevron Tang
4. Coney Grouper
5. Goldbar Wrasse
6. Snowflake Eel (maybe)

Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you

265 set up

265 set up

I have a fish only 265 gallon aquarium, 75 gallon sump with a Reeflo 3600 GPH. Very open setup I can post some pic's if you would like.

So far here is a list of fish I like.
Blonde Naso Tang
Blue Tang
Orange Shoulder Tang
Achilles Tang
Powder Blue Tang
Naso Tang
Kole Yellow Eye Tang
Sohal Tang

One question would be is the Naso Tang and the Blonde Naso Tang going to get a long.?

Would it be a bad idea to put a trigger in the mix?

What other fish would be a good fish for this setup? I'm very open to peoples idea's,

Thanks

Hi there,

I currently have:

2x Firefish (Nemateleotris magnifica) if a male and female, they will coexist, otherwise long term, will be only one
1x Scooter Blenny (Synchiropus ocellatus)
1x Six Line Wrasse (Pseudocheilinus hexataenia) -- currently passive (~1" long) will be a problem with any fairy or flasher wrasses
2x Camel Shrimp (Rhynchocinetes durbanensis) not reef safe
1x Peppermint Shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni)

Looking to add:
1x McCosker's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri) - male
1x Tanaka's Pygmy Wrasse (Wetmorella tanakai)
1x Geometric Pygmy Hawk (Plectranthias inermis) will eat shrimp
1x Wheeler's Shrimp Goby (Amblyeleotris wheeleri) to pair with pistol shrimp
1x Hi Fin Red Banded Goby (Stonogobiops nematodes) to pair with pistol shrimp in a 65 gallon, you will be able to sustain only one goby/pistol shrimp combination long term
1x Randall's Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus randalli) to pair with goby
1x Tiger Pistol Shrimp (Alpheus bellulus) to pair with goby
3x Peppermint Shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni)
2x Blood Red Fire Shrimp (Lysmata debelius)

Unfortunately I do not provide advice or commentary on aggressive fish tanks. Best advice can be found here.

Any suggestions are welcome! Thank you

Even with a relatively large tank, you are not going to be able to mix all of those tangs.

That mix is fine but waiting until the new tank is set up is prudent.

Clown Sweetlips ( might be known as a Harlequin) there is no way this fish can go in your tank
Tuxedo Damsel damsels are aggressive and will limit other fish going into this tank
Goldbelly Damsel - thinking of getting this guy first damsels are aggressive and will limit other fish going into this tank; do not cycle your tank with fish
Scooter Blenny
Camel Shrimp not reef safe
Purple Dottyback very aggressive, will limit fish going forward
Golden Head Sleeper Goby will deplete your sand bed of beneficial organisms and then starve to death
Bangaii Cardinal
Percula Clown's
Cleaner Shrimp
Blue Linckia Starfish
And lastly a Green Mandarin after the tank is set up and running for 9 months
Thank you for your time :)
