Looking for ideas. We currently have a 2-3 inch clown (Ocellaris). A melanrus wrasse, And two blue damsels less than 2 in long. Our tank is a 150. we are looking to add some color to it. Suggestions are welcome. Also it will be set up as a reef so coral safe is important.

As those who follow this thread know, I do not provide recommendations for a variety of reasons. However, I am always happy to evaluate any potential stocking list for compatibility.

Sorry, that makes sense. We were looking at.

Flame or pygmy angle.
fire fishes
engineer goby
Cardinals
mandarin
flasher wrasses
chromis
tang either a yellow or sail-fin
white spotted toby

Flame or pygmy angle. either is fine, but are not reef safe, especially towards meaty LPS corals
fire fishes one is fine; two require a bonded pair or only one will survive long term
engineer goby I do not recommend since they will rearrange your tank; with corals, that is a problem
Cardinals For Bangai, must be male plus female and should be tank raised
mandarin
flasher wrasses prolific jumpers; male plus females is fine of the same species
chromis one is fine, multiple will reduce to one
tang either a yellow or sail-fin any tang must be last added; a sailfin requires a larger tank. A yellow will be very territorial once established
white spotted toby I do not recommend puffers in reef aquaria

Thanks looks like we have a lot of rethinking to do!

In very general terms, it is useful to decide if your primary interest is corals and inverts, or fish. Then it is feasible to design around that priority. When they are equal priority, there are limitations imposed on both.

Okay- the Mrs. and I will go back to the drawing board. We are mostly going toward a softie tank, mushrooms and leather type corals. (I know they are not true corals but we enjoy the look and movement they give plus a lot easier to care for). I will post another list later tonight, we are hoping to make the trip to That fish place this weekend to pick a few things up. Thanks for all of your info, it is truly an asset!

If you are buying fish, you will need to have a quarantine protocol in place. If you do not, you will be buying fish a lot. The "corals" you are planning are pretty much going to be safe from the vast majority of fish (butterfly fish being a possible exception)

I am curious how much bioload I have left
Tank has been up for over 1 year
I have a 29g tank with a 20 gal fuge. I net roughly 45gal
Skim with an Aqua C Remora S
42lbs LR
100 net lbs sand (30in dt 70in fuge)

Stocking
-1 blue chromis
-1 6line
-1 swissguard basslet
-1 disco blenny (Meiacanthus smithi)

Also have various SPS and a maxima.

If I remove the 6-line wrasse, can I add 2 ranfordi gobies(pair) and 1 purple fire fish (N. decora)?
I'm terrible at 'eyeballing' bioload.

Thanks
-Greg

20g Long
~10lbs BRS Pukani
1-2" Fine Aragonite
Vortech MP10 ES
Aquaclear 70 Modded to HOB Refugium /w Chaeto

Intended stock:
1x Tail-spot Blenny
1x Six-line Wrasse

Does this look ok? How much leeway do I have to add more fish while still keeping a relatively low bioload?

I'm terrible at 'eyeballing' bioload. you could add one rainford goby and one firefish. Bioload is rarely the issue, it is virtually always behavioral compatibility

Thanks

Your plan is fine. The sixline will limit additions in addition to the bioload. As mentioned above, bioload is less of an issue than behavior.

Thank you for the quick response! I'll do a bit more reading on compatibility with the sixline. If you don't mind another quick question, so would a sand-dwelling goby such as a yasha be a fine addition to this list?

In a twenty gallon tank, two fish is about it, especially with one that is aggressive.

Ya, i like the activity level of the 6-line but hate how he limits my stocking options. I really liked that the 6-line would feed on AEFW and pyramid snails (a second line of defense that helps me sleep at night :P ). My current stocking are the only fish that he doesn't bother. (the first week the basslet and wrasse bickered but now they have mutual respect lol).
Could these be possible replacements for the 6-line?
- Pelvic spot wrasse (Pseudocheilinops ataenia)
- Strated wrasse (Pseudocheilnus evanidus)
- 4-lined wrasse (Pseudocheilinus tetataenia)

Most of the Pseudocheilinus have similar behavior characteristics. However Pseudocheilinops ataenia is a wonderful little fish. Highly recommended.

I have a 75 gal with a 20gal sump with skimmer. 75# LR and 80#sand
It finished its cycle a couple of weeks ago and has a all snail CUC
I have in QT tank:
2- Black & White Ocellaris Clowns (tank bred)
1- Bluespotted Watchman Goby (crytocentrus pavoninoides)
These are the other fish I would like to add to complete my tank.....
Bicolor Blenny (Ecsenius Bicolor)
Blue Reef Chromis (Chromis Cyaneus)
Royal Gramma Basslet (Gramma Loreto)
Flame Angelfish (Centropyge Loricula)
A Pair of Kauderns Cardinal (Pterapogon Karderni)
should I be concerned about the order of the remaining tenants ?

No order issue. Be sure the Kauderns cardinal pair is tank bred and a male plus female
