Hi - 45 gallon reef/live rock tank is underway. Stocking with only captive bred (which makes availability a bit tricky). As such, I'm thinking of modifying my plan a bit. Currently has 2 ocellaris clowns. Looking to add:

3 Pajama Cardinals
1 Greenbanded gobies
1 orchid dottyback (to be added last)

OR

2 Pajama Cardinals
2 Greenbanded goby
1 orchid dottyback

Originally was going to do yellow watchman goby but was thinking of swapping for the smaller greenbanded. As always thanks for the advice.

I currently have a blue damsel and a black and white striped damsel. We thought maybe we could have one more fish or 2 if they are small. Any recommendations?
I've read mixed things about adding clowns. My black and white damsel doesn't seem very aggressive at all. It mostly hides in a cave and comes out to eat. comes out once in a while but spends a lot of time in the cave. has ever since we got him. So, not a lot to look at in the tank

I think you will have difficulty adding fish to this sized tank with two damsels as they will be aggressive towards tank mates.

I haven't looked too far into how many fish I should have just yet as I am still cycling my tank and currently getting caught up on CUC required and Cycling and Proper Water flow.. etc.

Well after further review of my selection let me know if this may work a little better that what was discussed earlier

Pistol Shrimp (should I get him a friend, I heard they pair up with a blenny?)
Porcelain Crab
And the following CUC:
12 Blue Leg Hermit
3 Red Scarlet Hermits.
5 Astrea

If I can find one a Pom Pom Crab would be cool too.

If you have any suggestions of fish that might work please let me know.

I do plan on having Colt Coral Pearl Bubble and possibly a couple others once I get established.

Your sized tank would be small for a pair of clownfish once they are mature; in any case, pick either hermits or snails but not both since hermits kill snails in the long run

are there any pink fish that would work for me? thats what my wife said she wants. she told me to get a pink clownfish and wasnt happy when i said there was none.

Other than that i am looking for fish w/ some bright popping colors. even if they are "exotic" and cost alot of $ and take alot of care, ( i would never get something until i was ready to take care of it properly).

any suggestions would be great, thanks

This thread is about marine fish compatibility where you provide a stocking list and tank size and I provide an analysis of behavioral compatibility with the environment you are providing and with potential tank mates. Since our tastes would almost certainly be different and our budgets would also likely be different, I never provide recommendations; also, it is desirable that you develop research skills on what might work in your tank.

Tank has finished cycling and right now I have an Ocellaris Clownfish, 1 chocolatechip seastar and 3 Coraline snails (sp). They have been in the tank for about 2 days.

I want to add another clown, a lawnmower blenny, a tang, a blue tang, and an anenome to host the clown if I can. Im not sure what kind of CUC to get, so recomendations are welcome. This is my first saltwater tank ive worked with.

Royal Gramma
Kole Tang
Vrolick's Wrasse - Halichoeres chrysotaenia
Cleaner Shrimp
and the wife's Blood Red Fire Shrimp.

Wanting to add a Raccoon Butterfly. I am a little concerned about the Kole Tang and the Raccoon Butterfly. He seems to be rather spirited. Wondering if Kole's have a tendency to be aggressive against butterflies.

Give us your size of tank, and type of water treatment (filter/live rock, sump y/n?) and tell us what you propose to buy--- But I have just read two really sad posts from people whose lfs sold them impossible-to-keep-alive creatures that are sadly dead or dying right this moment.
We can't answer without info, so describe your system (best yet, fill in those questions in My Profile under My RC, and give detail the way us old hands do)---and we'll be ever so glad to tell you whether your fish will have a good life in your tank.

It has a media basket (mechanical and chemical filtration), protein skimmer, 30# live sand, and about 15# live rock.

As for my stocking list, here's what I'm thinking:
Small, cute, interesting fish that will play nicely and make a tank that's fun to watch, and hopefully interact with one another in fun ways. Oh, and affordable. Definitely affordable.

CUC:
Something sand sifting. Maybe Nasarrius snails?

What kind of snails are considered "best" for the tank? I am planning on not having crabs, as I've had too many of the "probably reef safe" ones at the very least chasing my poor snails around and killing/eating/taking their shells. So some snails for the sand, and some snails for the rock work. What else do I need for the CUC?

Other Critters:

I'm looking forward to some kind of pistol/goby pair. Maybe something like this:

I think I should be able to get that pair for about $50 total.

Then comes one or two of my favorite fish to watch, Tail Spot Blennys:

They are so cute and have so much personality! (~$25 each)

Next probably comes a Cleaner Wrasse, as it is colorful, active, friendly, and affordable at about $15:

Eventually I will add in a Ruby Red Scooter Dragonette ($25), but that will only be once my tank has had a chance to get established and grow a pod population:

The final main consideration is my "main" fish to have, probably a pair of Onyx clowns:

There's an awesome nearby clown breeder that I'll look into for some interesting tank-raised clowns.

To round things off I'll take a look at what my stocking list ACTUALLY looks like (rather than what my plan says), and if my tank looks like it can handle a couple more fish, I'll add in a few:

Bangaii Cardinals

(I can get tank-bred ones, which is nice, and they can spawn in captivity, which is extra nice!)

Chromis!

Hi, 200 gallons (7 feet) fowlr with 50 gallons sump and 150 Lbs live rock currently running fellow for more than 3 months due to ich attack. Current Stock,
- Adult Emperor Angel (5")
- Foxface (4")
- Bicolor (3")
- Powder brown tang (4")
- Common Clown (1.5")
My frnd going abroad and i am in a situation where i must either take his Asfur Angel (probably 5") or a Vlamingii Tang (10" plus).
Although i like Asfur more but i need ur advice. Thanks
