Nice Kenny, that Mia's Pot of Gold is a beauty!

I agree. There are a few Favias out there captively raised that are definitely one of a kind. Well, at least those I've seen in my tank

I wish I could take that nice of a picture.
Awsome photos!!!

Thanks Dan! It's all a matter of practice and taking lots of photos. Eventually, even a person as slow as I am will get it :D

My WB doesn't produce any waves, no matter how I adjust it  I don't want to have to go with an extension b/c there is simply no room for one. Any know it all's out there willing to offer a suggestion or two? :D

Is there anything in the way blocking the flow? You shouldn't have any problem getting a wave in your tank. The wave was easy to get in my 250.

Also, check the power level on the silver/blue box to make sure it's turned all the way up, then dial the pulse rate all the way down(quick pulse) and slowly work your way up from there.

Dear Mr. Know It All, there is nothing blocking the flow :D It's sitting in the right rear corner facing the front. There are no rocks or anything whatsoever in front of it, just the wide open ocean. I've tried the dialing thing. I've gone both ways but still got no satisfaction  I'll check again to make sure the power is at 100%. Do you think the direction the WB faces makes a difference? I can aim it to go the length of the tank but not far off, there are some rocks in the way.

 I did warn you:D

If it's going front to back, you'll be lucky to get a wave as there's not much room and the frequency will be really high. Tough for it to pump quickly enough to build a wave. If you can get the frequency dialed in just right, it'd be possible. You'd be trying to time the pump to pump every other wave or so, without fighting an incoming wave.
Now, if you stick it on the end, you'll be rockin'.

And some rocks in the way will be OK, provided they're not right in front of the WB. Further away, the moving water will be more spread out, and can flow around the rocks without breaking up the wave.

The weird thing is that I've seen them in several tanks facing the front and yet still produce waves longitudinally the length of the tank. That just baffles me.

Don't know how that'd work, unless it was in a back corner, and the wave pulse rebounded out of the corner. It seems like for that to work, you'd want to set a longer pulse duration, as you're trying to stack the water in the corner before letting it "roll" back across the tank. Too bad I didn't have my setup still and could play around with it.

Ive seen the same thing. Ying had a nano facing forward in his 120 and the wave went side to side. Maybe Roger can help...

I think that just "rolled" right over me  I have no bloody idea on the inner workings of these things but have always thought it was beneficial to have some wave motion in the tank. Another reason I would prefer to keep it facing forward is to keep the magnets on the back, instead of on the side where they are visible.

I never saw Ying's tank before it was taken down, but I am pretty sure Greg has his facing the front. Once I get my lazy butt moving and actually install the 6205, which I've had for almost a month, I'll ring Roger and get his opinions on the flow in my tank. Just so much to do. After over a year and a half, I still have yet to put on the T5's. Got a new GEO kalk reactor still sitting in it's box :rolleye1:

Well, if you boil it down, the wave is just a pulse of water. So in the tank, you're trying to get the pulse from the pump to match the wave as it goes back and forth. If you do, it builds into a noticable wave. If you don't, you're just moving water.:D If the water level rises in the corner as the pump is on, when it turns off the water level will drop back down, pushing the water around it, possibly creating a wave logitudinally across the tank, if the pulse rate was just right.
Anyhow, to get a wave across the tank, the water must be pulsing across the tank. I'm sure it's possible when bouncing off the tank wall, just much more difficult to get it right.

Mark can make corals grow and color up, but he has nothing on me when it comes to slacking off. I am the leader of the pack :o

Kenny, why not put it on the end near the overflow box? It wouldn't stick out too much....

Unfortunately, that side is stacked full of rocks. It would have been the perfect location but I liked having the rockwork lean again the back and that side, leaving the right side open b/c it's viewable.
