so its 50mm unlike the 100mm macro with a faster 1.8 f stop?

Is that to catch moving fish better?

Ian it's not a macro, it's a fixed prime lense. I have one for Nikon 50mm 1.4f, woot!

I wished I could afford the 1/4 :( I just couldn't justify the extra 3 bills.

Wow, I absolutely love this lens. I had to try it so I switched on all the lights for some test shots. It's bloody FAST!!! :D Now I need some time to process some pix.

I took this shot with my 50mm 1.4f of my juvi clowntang a little while ago.

New lens and new fish, what could be better than that :lol2:

I thought this guy was pretty big but I had forgotten how big my females were. I think he probably gives up at least an inch without the streamers. Looks like he'll probably have to stay in the acclimation chamber for a long while until the females are used to him. The oldest female was stalking him the minute he was put in. Not aggressively, but keeps on looking inside the chamber. Don't know if she wants a piece of him or feels threatened :D

Thanks! My original female, which I've had for over 4 years, actually started out as a male. He was alone for over 2 years and lost his stripes after about a year. When this tank went up, I added another female to hopefully coax he/she to return to the male coloration. No such luck. So this is my third watanabei. I am just hoping the 2 bigger females won't beat the crap out of him or the original shemale will tolerate the new member

LOL I like the bartlette, what do you mean ignore him. I see your lovin your 50mm 1.8f

Yes, I am loving the new lens. As for the Barlett's, I am in the process of trying to catch all 9 of them. It's time to move on to a different species of anthias. I got a few cooking to see how they will do in the big tank :)

Stunning fish shots Kenny. Super clear.

Thanks Dan! The 50/1.8 is really making a big difference shooting fish vs. all of the other lenses I have.

Man, they are a pain to catch. Only got 3 of them so far. I basically have to catch one each night b/c they simply won't go into the trap after the first one is caught. They are really skittish. On the other hand, the Flame harem goes in and out like it's an every day thing.

Here are some pix of the original shemale watanabei. Check out those streamers.

I know it. Well, when you catch em, lemme know.

Dude that watanabei is obese, she (he, it) needs to do some sit-ups.

Yeah, they probably don't like to hear it, but both females are like barrels :D
