Here's my Closed Loop on my 120 recently re plumbed.

how big is that pump on your closed loop?? Im setting up a 120 currently and will be doing a closed loop.

It is a Dolphin Ampmaster 3000.
azreefer, awesome setup! Where did you get the sump? Do you have a link?

Is this the bean drain system? how do you like it? Very sharp set up, thanks for sharing.

Well, better late than never

Your kid is hilarious, I love it! It looks like you have a 3/4" and a 1" SCWD. How do you like that set up? Is it adjustable?

Mine all has to stay in the stand as well. I went with SCWDs and closed loops so it sits alittle back from the tank. I've also got 2 Iwakis that feed one SCWD and come from one intake.

just tagging along enjoying all the pristine creations.

it's not a big set up but I thinks it's comming along ok

pumps for the closed loops

Why does everyone use 90 degree fittings instead of two 45's? Wouldn't it cut down on the head pressure? The difference in space used is negligible. Is it the cost?

I didn't use very many 45 degrees because it takes 2 fittings to get to 90degree and on my set up not much space

In terms of head pressure, two 45's is exactly the same as a 90. On a drain line, 45's will cause less turbulence than a 90 will.

I used sweep 90s in mine which take up the same space as 2 45s and IMO they have smoother curves thus, in my head less resistance

Uncle... isn't it about loss of energy due to deflection i.e. hitting 2 45s would be less than hitting a 90

Jesse, I like the 1" SCWD b/c you can take it apart and clean it out. Apparently my 3/4" SCWD is jammed and only pushing one side (not rotating) I am currently deployed and can't fix it as my wife doesn't really know how to take everything apart.
Also, I had a design error so I only use one of the closed loops at the moment, I plan on fixing all of this on R and R and will then be able to comment on if I like the 1" SCWD better
